Shiloh Ridge/Alto Texas Oct 20-22nd

why head there...from all the pics it look like a big mud hole...have you been there before? do they have a large trail system...have you guys thought of gilmer or clayton...

I attend stephen f. austin state university in nacogdoches, about 15 minutes from alto, i have taken my jeep many times, and there are enough rocky trails to keep you busy for a solid 4-5 hours, the rest can be spent playing in the rock garden, the most intense obstacle to me anyways, would be without a doubt, the right side of helicopter hill, about a 300 yard near vertical climb with ledges and loose rocks. there are a few other extreme climbs, all in all worth one try at least.

JAKE

Alto Texas was great with the exception of numerous ATV's and the poor bathroom facilities. This was my first dealing with rocks of any kind. People in my group were very impressed with the XJ. I was worried that my 32" BFG AT's weren't going to do well and that i would break the Dana 35, but i was mistaken. Another group member was running a V8 Grand C with long arms, all locked w/ 35's and i went just about everywhere he did. There are a few changes i want to make, but i definitely want to make another trip to Alto Texas. blaise
