I'm nearing the end of rebuilding a 93 XJ with the manual AX 15. The jeep is lifted (3") and while restoring I put a new inner shift boot in since the old one was pretty much gone. The boot at the transmission looked good so I didn't mess with it. I took it out today and it won't stay engaged in second gear (I didn't get up in speed to try 4th since I have a bunch of stuff removed to get ready to paint it). It's not grinding and reverse is fine, it's just like it doesn't want to stay in second. Could the new boot or lift be causing this?
