Shawnee National Forest?

Has anyone on here ever been to Shawnee national forest located at the very southern tip on Illinois? I've been wanting to go for a few years and I think this fall I'm actually going make the trek down there. They have land formations like you never knew existed in Illinois. Anything I should keep an eye out for or must sees while I'm down?

We had a trip down there a few year back, we met up with some SIJA guys who showed us around the public lands.

Yes, that was a good trip. I enjoyed it. I'd do it again.
I've got pics on my photobucket acct. but I can't get to them from work. We hiked Little Grand Canyon and went to Inspiration Point. Pretty cool stuff.


Anything to keep an eye out for? Yeah.......be careful. Seems as if there's one or two people that fall off of a cliff and die every year down there.

I bet we could get someone off of SIJA again to guide us around. It's kind of hard to tell in some places where the trail is and if it's legit to be there. BountyHunter took us on the last trip, he's a good guy.

There is a guy (notatreehugger) on itsajeep.org, that works for the SNF, they ride a couple of trails a month. Anyway, they have ride for tomorrow, they're meeting at the Harrisburg USFS office at 10 am ish.

Most of the guys in his group work for the USFS. They're all firemen, and usually the guy that leads is an engineeer, who knows the layout and area like the back of his hand. Great group of guys.
