Brad, there is no unofficial correct way of running the trail. A lot of people will do Deep Creek, then Holcomb west to east. Others will run John Bull, then Holcomb east to west.
I might, I'm going to head to my shop right now to finish some work on my jeep and head out fishing tonight. If the isn't any bites then I'll head back tonight and get in contact with you, but if the fish start biting then I might stay tomorrow to

Thanks for the info. Looks like I will run East to West from Big Bear to Green Valley. That way I can still stop by the Discovery center before I hit the trail to see if anyone else is joining us. If anyone decides to come along give me a heads up sometime tonight so I don't accidentally leave you. Text me on my cell at (909) 238-3333 or you can call me before 10:30 pm or after 6:30 am.
Had a good time today despite the horrendous traffic on the trail. I think every Bronco and Scout on the West coast was on that trail. There was also a huge JK group running it so I took rather long. The obstacles were fun but not too challenging. I saw a couple almost stockers out there running the trail, so it's pretty doable in a mild built XJ as long as you got some sliders. The adopt a trail folks did a good job clearing the trail and setting up the handful of obstacles. I didn't take any pics. My wife hoped out at one spot and took a few and that was it. So I will post the few she took.

Mike, wouldn't you be okay if you took the 118 to the 210? Besides, we're going early morning. We'll probably leave OC at 5 am to get there around 6:45-7:00.

Just got home from a good day in Big Bear. Danny (s7tech) and I ran Holcomb Creek both ways and hardly saw anybody. Of course, we started a bit early. Holcomb may not be so difficult, but it's still a really fun trail.
We then ran John Bull pretty quickly. We saw nobody there.

You forgot to mention that we saw some the San Bernardino National Forest Volunteers out there (along with karstics sister) raising money to help with keeping trails open and clean up. Good time, I'm tired.
Darn i missed this. Had to work late but maybe the next wave i could catch. Is there more water crossing? The end of dishpan had a pretty deep crossing.

I was hopeful there would be a deep water crossing on Holcomb Creek but I never came across it. There were a couple stream crossings with the deepest being about 12" max.
Some stuff got tamed by the dozer just to get the dozer in where it was needed. I think over time and traffic things will get more difficult.
Also I think the trail crew at MJR is taking a breather. Some of those guys were out there every weekend for a couple of months working to get the trail open. THey have plans to work on the rock gardens and such.
Also there is work being done of 2N06X to get that trail open again.
The water crossing was barely a trickle yesterday. Here's Elias at the water crossing two years ago. It's shallow where his Jeep is, but he's about to drop into the deeper part.
