I know there are quite a few people from the bay area here. And some of you are like me, would like to have better welding and fabbing skills. I've been looking at getting into a welding class for a while now, but I can't attend any of the classes at the local community colleges or vocational schools because I work full time, wife, 2 kids, sports, scouts, etc, etc, etc.
So I found this place called Hellbent Studios in Mountain View. Their main emphasis is metal sculpturing, not automotive welding. But the owner offers a 4 hr one-on-one welding class for $125 available evenings. You can chose MIG, TIG, Plasma Cutter, or Oxy-gas welding. I have a small MIG welder but I wasn't making much progress on my own. At the end of the class I was laying down some fairly decent welds. The class is not highly technical, but you will be welding in just a few minutes into the class. I thought it was worth the cost, and I'm confident that it is just a matter of practice now.
Just thought I'd mention it for anyone in the bay area that wants to start welding.
