Sensor ID please

What is the sensor that is mounted in the left rear on the upper deck of the head. It looks like a temp sensor but I want to be sure. I broke it and need to get a new one.

Yes it is the temp sender to the gauge/light.

Yes, it is the coolant temp sensor. On my 88 XJ this sensor provides the temp gauge on the dash board with it's infomration. There is a seperate Temp sensor located on the driver's side of the block, behind the mount bracket, for the engine computer to use.

When you go buy a new temp sensor be warned there are two versions. One is for a "guage" and one is for the "idiot light". Buy the right one for you instrument panel.
