There is some kinda fever going around the midstate. People think stock XJs are worth 5+.
I even see some high mileage one with issues and people are asking 3k for them.

they are in the beginning stages of the vintage life-cycle. the youngest xj will be 15 years old next year, any 15 year old vehicle in good clean working order begins to demand a premium. i'd pay 6 for that wag, i'd have that in restoring a beat one to that condition.

they are the best little cheap vehicle that money can buy. and they can be set up to do it all from autox to hardcore offroad

Very true sure you can sit around and wait to even find another. Then restore it. 6 is a good starting point I'm sure 5k cash and some smooth talk can get it. It's really nice.. Nicest I've seen
