This seems a little pricey for an XJ but mileage is relatively low for an XJ. Rare nice color. And if you look closely, it has a long arm kit.

That poor XJ looks like it has lived a hard short life. The motor work looks sloppy at best. It seems salvageable for someone willing to take on the task but IMO the current condition of the work done is not up to par. Probably the first thing I would do is take off that mangled grill guard and those sketchy looking wheels and tires. I bet those were rollers and they threw those on so they could keep a better tire and wheel package that was originally on it.

From my experience seeing older-ish rigs with rather ambitious mods that look poorly done or incomplete but workable, parts that seem like they were replacements to save parts of value, usually means it is a lemon that the previous owner did not have the knowledge or skills to work out the problems. BUT for someone with the tools, knowledge, and skills may see this as a steal and work out the issues for next to nothing.

If I was all about a swap like this I would atleast go take a look and see what issues it has. I would love to see what a Jeep like this would look like cleaned up and fixed! Could be a diamond in the rough in the right hands!

I noticed it is missing the front cover for the transmission. Mine was too when I got it. Wonder why?

JMHO but those seem high. Look around on here and are you on Offroadsc.com? They are a Columbia SC based group. I am in Hartsville not far from you. Feel free to shoot me a message if you have any questions! Also I meet a guy at the woork weekend that just bought a decent XJ for less then $2K. I'd keep looking.

That is a little high priced in my opinion. I wouldn't pay more than $3500 if it checked out good and was fairly clean

always ask about axles and gearing on a built rig. Good axles, geared and locked are worth a small premium. Cautious with built rigs... look close at the work that's been done, the details, and the parts. It's easy to lift a truck high enough to clear big tires, and do nothing else. Looks impressive, but leaves you with a lot of work.:cheers:

Agreed. Be cautious of anything that's been modified (not just Jeeps...any vehicle). Not everybody's cut out for working on/modifying vehicles...
