scrap metal prices

so who in so cal is giving the best prices on scrap metal (steel especially)?
i have been seeing a bunch of mini truck stake beds running around lately with sign on the side wanting your scrap steel. so since i have a pretty good trailer full at the moment i decided to call my local place. i normally get around $60 a ton for it. but when i called the other day the guy says $200. WHAT? is this the going rate right now? anyone know of places in north county san diego to maybe corona area? i think it is time to call around.

Yup $200 plus a ton right now. I just sold a bunch of steel and copper and netted almost a grand out of it. I had alot of clean copper and stainless in the mix though.

thanks for the info. Ontario is too far unless they are paying a lot more than the $200 locally. fuel cost would out way the few dollars more.
so i am guessing $200 is the average price then? i tried looking up prices online and found nothing. you pretty much have to call for current pricing. i also have aluminum and some copper and brass. i would imagine they pay more.
