So i was driving around santa barbara yesterday looking for a rental, and saw a trailer that i thought was a M416 for sale. So i pulled a u turn and went back to look at it and it was a 1944 willys trailer for $250.

So i called and got the lady down to $180, so i went to pick it up today.

It is in pretty good condidtion, no tailgate, the floor is rusted but has a 3/16 plate on it. and the frame looks bent a little.

Nice find!

Check out the 1/4 ton trailer forum at g503.com.

There are some guys that are building a database of WWII trailers. That trailer might be worth more than $180 to you.

Does it have the original pintle hitch?

I have seen them go for a lot more then i got it for so i am planning on restoring it a bit and making it a offroad / camping trailer.

It has a 2" ball but i want to swap it for a pintle hitch, it also has a working hand break on it.

On a side note my 3.5" re super ride just came in for my 90 xj :) so two new projects in one day...

I found it up in turnpike area, i was not looking to buy a trailer but the moment i saw it i knew what it was. Me and a few friends are going to SBCC but are looking as far north as Goleta for a place.

The lady was real nice and she and her husband have owned it since 1963, and has a black license plate on it.

I am really trying to find a place with a garage like i have right now in Ventura, but its so much more expensive there.

Sweet! I scored a trailer I really love last year - same size and all, very similar to yours, but of unknown origins. The Jeep hauls it like it isn't there (except for uphill LOL), and it looks good behind it.

Nice find! :)

Yea i love the size, right now it is going with me everywhere because my other jeep is taken over the garage for the lift and our HOA does not allow trailers on the driveway unhitched. And the only time i notice it is going over bumps. Backing up is also a piece of cake, i don't really see any issues with it that people where saying.

im trying to decide if i should keep it military / air force color or paint it to match my yellow jeep.

FYI:
I'll be moving out of my place in Goleta sometime around mid-summer. $400 per month+$35 util, month-month, smaller room, huge house, lotsa room for tinkering on stuff but no garage, its on a 3 acre citrus orchard on glen annie (I ride my bicycle to UCSB). There is usually a room since its month to month and the other 6 rooms run from $400 to $1000 for the two studio-like rooms.

Thanks man, but we are looking more for a 2 bd place for 3 people. So that makes it a bit more difficult.

So how big is one of these trailers? Could you fit a couple dirtbikes in one?
