Internet shopping can be convenient, but it can also be expensive. You have to watch your back.

Most of us know that Harbor Freight Tools has some stuff not readily available elsewhere. They also assault you with catalogs if you've ever bought from them. Here's a tip -- SAVE THOSE CATALOGS

I just saved about $75 by using catalogs rather than the web site. First, I spent some quality time with about five of their catalogs. (You have to watch them -- some things show up in one catalog but not in others, and often you'll find the same item in different catalogs -- or on different pages -- for different prices.) Wrote down all the numbers of the suff I wanted, then logged onto their web site to place my order.

Hmmmm -- first item should have been $1.87 but it came up as $3.99. Second item should have been $13.97 but it showed up as $19.00. Third item should have been $39.99 but it showed up as $49.99.

At that point I stopped typing, logged off, and picked up the phone. Read off the numbers I had written down, and the sales agent came back with all the right prices. If I had just gone to the web site I would have paid about $75 more than I did -- plus I get a free attache case (yippee, I need another to add to the 37 of them I've already gotten). Basically, my ball joint/u-joint service kit is free based on what I saved by using the catalogs.

YMMV.

On more thing, thye sometimes put special sale items on the covers, then inside youll find the smae thing but at the regular price! Also, her in my house we often get 3 catalogs at the same time, one for me, my dad and bro. We each have different prices and offers on them..so we just use whichever catalog works out best regardless of who it was sent to.

I've seen the same thing with the Craftsman catalog/web site too. Thanks for the reminder.

I have a Store located 60 miles from my house. So I usually go to pick the stuff up myself. Everytime I find something in an add they send me, it is 10 to 15 dollars cheaper at the store. If you have a Harbor Freight anywhere near it may be worth the trip on big purchases.
