San Diego run corral canyon

The Forest Service doesn't update their site much... best is to call. I know it's open, but I'll call and check next week just to be sure.

I run a 4.5" in 31.5's with stock gearing and open/open... and just that one hard spot slowed me down much. I did crunch the rocker panel a bit. Without armor, I'd say there's a decent chance of some damage...

i have the rockers and tank squared away, but i still need to mount my hitch, mount up the cb system, and do something about the front recovery points. i have the rear hitch in hand and want to do a front receiver for the front for recovery... but i should be able to get that done in a week's time.

i 'll have a couple of seasoned buddies riding with me if i make it there.

sounds like it's going to be a fun little run.

Same here shotgunners welcome ecspecially if they are pretty, and dont have a lot a facial hair lol

As this gets a little closer I was thinking about meeting up before the run for breakfast then carovaning up there. Yes no maybe so. maybe bet like 830.

I have recovery points front and back.
Just watched some video on the trail. Looks like a may need them! :laugh3:

Never been on a trail like this one. You guys okay with that?
I don't want to hold anyone up.

getting unstuck is the best part. lol we all get stuck from time to time that is why we wheel as a group. I'm not brave enough to go out by myself just incase something should happen. Got stuck in a mud pit once while out by myself worst feeling stuck with no help.

Hehe, I can top that....

Went wheelin in the Everglades with a buddy and got stuck in a 4' deep gator hole...had to leave the Jeep overnight, walk out, and bring help the next day. When we got back to the rig, the occupant of said gator hole had relocated occupancy to my Wrangler. :rattle:

In that case, count me in!!!
I'm liking the breakfast idea too. But I'll be coming from Victorville and I don't think I want to get up THAT early.
(loved the gator story)

Hmmm, if we are hitting the trail about 10:00 or 10:30. I guess I could get down there around 8:30 or 9:00... 9:30?

Here is my rig...
It's just a hair above stock. :eyes:

hey, I should have asked first, but...do we need any kind of pass to do this? Like some vehicle permit form the forestry department or anything? As I recall, you need a sticker of some sort for Big Bear, and I don't wanna be the gimp that shows up unprepared.

BTW, nice lookin wrangler. I would highly suggest looking for some rocker panel armor for it though. Being a wrangler, everybody and their brother makes parts for it, but OYR (if they're still around) makes some pretty affordable and hella well built rocker guards.

Yeah rocker guards are definately on the list. I don't think I can get them before the run though. Still gotta get a CB first.

Oh hehe, I didn't necessarily mean by next weekend. =) I just saw all that pretty paint. I also built my wrangler on a budget, so price was important to me. As I recall, my OYR panels were shipped to Miami for under $200 total cost. They're manufactured in Half Moon Bay, CA so they couldn't have been shipped much further and they weigh a friggin' ton! But I tell ya, They took some pretty hard hits and never budged. And no, I'm not a salesman for them, but if i wasn't so damn lazy I would have written several testimonials. =) But again, I don't even know if they're still around. I haven't had a YJ for almost 5 years and OYR don't make squayt for a cherokee.

An Adventure Pass may be required for all vehicles parked anywhere on the Cleveland National Forest. The pass IS required in OHV areas. Please contact the district office to find out where you will need one in order to park.

That's under the "camping" section so I don't know if you'll need one for day use of the trails. I'll call the forest service this week and get details.

I didnt get one last time should I have?

I have a map/brochure on the area and it says, "An adventure pass is required for all vehicles PARKED anywhere on the Cleveland National Forest, this includes OHV campgrounds or trailheads."

I think we'd be ok if we never stopped for lunch or broke on the trail but it's probably a good idea to get them.:)

The corner store by my house sells them, if you guys want to get the passes I'll buy them for the group once we get a solid vehicle count. I think they're 5 bucks.

Oh, I knew you didn't mean by this weekend, but after watching the videos of the trail. I wish I could have them by then..:looney:
Bushwacker makes some under the name of Trailarmor but they are only plastic and the use adhesive to mount them. Don't know if they would actaully serve any real purpose. They are affordable though.
