Sad day - Jeep got smashed

I was given the option but it was a $1200 buyback. Not worth it IMO.
 
5800 for a 93 is a crazy good price. they sell for so much less all the time.
you can get a pretty nice rig with that cash.

Some interesting options there. Most are a little too much wheeling rig for my needs. Looking for a comfortable DD, dog hauler, camping vehicle, and light wheeling rig. Keeping an eye out for a 97+ with an OME or RE 3.5" lift and good tires. Also, I'm looking for something in good, clean shape. Preferably with lower miles.

Seriously considering a ZJ or WJ too. Maybe I can find one stock and clean for a decent price and then start building it as I need.

That really sucks! At least no one (innocent) was injured. Damn drunk drivers...


I'd go with a 98 5.9 ZJ or a 97+ XJ. I just don't like the look of the WJs and WKs though :dunce:

FWIW, the most comfortable jeep seats I have ever sat in are the early 90s buckets they put in MJs with the big beefy side bolsters. The late 90s seats always felt kinda flat, hard, and benchlike. I am a skinny bastard though, so that probably has something to do with it.
 
Chad sent me a PM asking bout our dubj.

It's a 2004, v8, Special edition. The SE model is basically a laredo. However, it's painted like a limited, has leather, and still retains the simple hvac controls. (The limited and overland use a dual climate control system, 100% failure rate, and it' a pain to fix.)

Mpg is an average of 16-17. It can pull 20-21 all day long on the freeway.

It has a 3 inch Iron Rock Offroad lift. Bilstein shocks. That setup was about 1000 bucks. (Coils, track bar, shock mounts, shocks) The ride is awesome.

We also have a dual steering stabilizer setup, cures some wobble. (100 bucks or so.)

So that, with stock gears, stock steering, stock brakes, and it handles 32 inch BFG's no problem. (No sye either!)

Braking, acceleration, power, mpg, steering- It all beats the xj. (And my xj has had a FULL steering/braking suspension/gearing aftermarket treatment of about 2500 bucks)

You really have to mod a lot on an xj to run the same size tires as a wj. The transmission is a 5 speed, which rocks. You also get full control of 3rd, 2nd, and 1 gears, none of the 1-2 combined BS we deal with.

Also- my xj bogs down badly when full of gear and people. The wj has more than enough power.

The interior is bigger, heated seats, leather, plus a factory 6 speaker system with an amp.

Reliability has been excellent. The only issues we've had was a bad set of evap hoses in the back bumper which got fixed. It had some overdrive issues as well, fixed with a new throttle position sensor.

The 4.7 is a beast- We run a superchip 87 octane tune on ours, it boosted power and mpg.

Is that the quadra-drive system? And is yours for sale? Pretty sold now. :) :drool:

How many miles on yours? And is that the HO 4.7?
 
i would love a Wj. this is what id love to do to it: long arms f/r, 30/9/cryod 4.88s/detroits/chromos/trusses/covers/35s-37s , cut alot of metal out of fenders,belly skid /2x6 rockers/bumpers/hybrid cage and bring 5 people with gear in comfort through everything.
 
This thread has got me seriously thinking about finding a WJ instead of the hard to find LJ Rubicon. I had plans to modify my 2000 WJ and sold it like an idiot before I had the chance. Typical mileage was 18-22 for my 4.7L Loredo (as per overhead console) and the comfort and interior features were sweet. I used to sleep in the back and it was plenty long enough for me, unlike the XJ.

wow. id kill for that kinda MPG. im between 13.5-15.5 depending. these days its around 15mpg on a long trip , fully loaded with gear and people, to and from the mountains(worse going up, better going down) .
i used to get 18mpg with stock gears, 33s, and a big cone filter.
if i had the cash id buy a WJ.

Haha our's isn't for sale.It's probably going to be mine. I might buy it from my dad.

The quadra-drive is only built with the Limited's and Overlands. (Quadradrive is just the 247 tcase that ours has, plus 2 limited slips. I'm going to aussie lock our rear axle instead.)

Ours has 80k miles. And no, it's not the HO.

The high output was standard on the 2002-04 Overland, Option on the 02-04 Limited.

That's a nice zj, but you can be sure the mpg will suck hard. The 5.9L had a pretty inefficient full time awd tcase.


BTW, in the wj- The 4.7 and 4.7HO get pretty much the same mpg. (Same with the 4.0L wj too)
