so i'm working on this blazer, an '85 4x4; 2.8 (double yuck); 700R4; 207(?)... anyways, this vehicle has this problem where the vehicle will take off okay-ish and drive okay-ish for a while, then it seems like the tranny starts slipping, not when shifting gear, but like it won't go faster so you'll just give it more gas and it doesn't really do much, except rev. when it got really bad it wouldn't pull into the driveway, which was on quite an incline. so i shut it off to let it cool down, but i only let it sit for maybe 2 minutes. i restarted it, put it in 4-LO, and it crawled right up the driveway. now this doesn't really sound like a trashed tranny, rather maybe a valvebody problem? i'm not really familiar with these transmissions... but i did replace the coil/wires in the bottom of the pan. anyways, thanks in advance for any help, guys...

As a last gasp fix, you can try putting the rear up on jack stands, shifting to drive and then into reverse. Only do this at near idle, even then it's a kind of hold your breath kind of thing (it can lunch a tranny). This can back flush some of the valve body and dislodge (hopefully) something that may be messing with your pressure.
Also check the TV cable adjustment, I really can't remember if the 85 has the lift up TV adjuster lock or the push button type.
Make sure the lever (cam) for the TV valve in the bottom of the tranny didn't fall out. Pull on the TV cable by the throttle body and make sure there is some spring resistance, if it has no return (disconnected from the TB), the TV valve and/or lever (cam) may be laying in the pan.
Disconnect the cooler lines and blow them out through the radiator.
Change the fluid.
