i have only bought things using paypal. how does it work if i receive money? i want to start selling some jeep parts i have laying around is why i ask. how do i get the money into a back account (like a deposit)? also, do you get charged a certain percentage of the transaction, if so, how much?

Thanks,
Jake

Its not close to 8% ! its just over $3.00 per hundred.. so 3%

Fees for receiving purchase payments
Fees to receive payments for purchases of goods and services vary depending on monthly sales volume.

Purchase payments received (monthly) Fee per transaction
$0.00 USD - $3,000.00 USD 2.9% + $0.30 USD
$3,000.01 USD - $10,000.00 USD 2.5% + $0.30 USD
$10,000.01 USD - $100,000.00 USD 2.2% + $0.30 USD
> $100,000.00 USD 1.9% + $0.30 USD

ok thanks guys. so do i have to hit a button to deposit received $ into my bank account or does it just direct deposit?

Once you recieve money just look through the menu up top and they will have a tab to get the money into your account. It can take up to three business days for the transfer to go through though. I like to leave the money in paypal for future jeep purchases :))

I am like Rob, I keep my extra funds in my Paypal account for additional Jeep stuff that wont come out of momma's check book! :D

I bought my Boggers from a guy that listed them on CS. It cost me like 16 bucks to transfer cash to the seller, but I do not think it cost the seller anything I was right with him when the transfer went through. My wife transfered it from our computer @ home. I think for the most part as long as both parties have PayPal accounts it is simple. See what everbody else say's since I have on done one transaction like that.

Transfering money person to person via a checking account is free. If it is ebay or the transaction involves a credit card then the fees are charged. I had my uncle send me $8000 for a generator I sold him and it didn't cost either of us a dime :)

It actually depends on the account type...

If you have an account that can accept credit cards you pay the fee on every transaction regardless of the source of the funds.

But if your account doesn't accept credit cards, then there is no fee on any transaction.

hmm ok, thanks. you can pay for your membership here with paypal right? because i would just leave it on paypal to pay for it. i actually sold some stuff so i could get money for a membership(told you before xmas).

Yes you can.. and let me be the first to say thank you and welcome to the red letter club.

Receiving a payment is easy.

1) Provide the payer with your email address (linked to your PP account.)
2) They can:
- Make the payment from their PP account (no fee, immediate credit)
- Make an "e-check" payment from their bank account (no fee, 3-5 weekdays)
- Make a payment using their credit card (small percentage fee, immediate credit.)

You may then use the PP balance to buy stuff (get a PP debit card if you want to use the account for in/out payments a lot - it works like a regular cheque card. I have one, and it simplifies my business accounting...) or follow the PP instructions to link your PP to your bank account (essentially, they verify your account by sending some small deposits - totalling about a nickel - to your account. You check your statement, tell them what the deposits were, and they consider you "authorised to access that account.")

NB: You can use the money in your PP account immediately if you pay through PP or using a PP debit card, but you wait 3-5 weekdays if you transfer money into your bank account for use. Your call.

I've been using it as my primary business account for a couple of years now, and it's worked handily.
