Rubicon trip for 2010????

are we gonna shore up a start date or what? i'm easy as long as i have some notice - we need a start date & body count. would like to have cal chime in on this since he's run it a bunch of times, or one of the norcal guys willing to put up w/ us "southerners"

Terry, Date set for June 28th - July 2nd

I thought there was already a start date...head north Monday 6/28, return Saturday 7/3 or something like that.

Cal might chime in after KOH... he's been seeming to be just a mite bit busy lately with his work schedule & KOH prep. If we're both sober at the same time next weekend, l may try to pick his brains at KOH. But no promises!!

I've heard the same "you can run it on 31s open/open" before, and supposedly many places have bypasses, but my impression is that if you're on 31s, plan on damage, try to avoid it & be happy if you succeed...

it really depends on how much you mind body damage. it will happen on 31's so be ready. i have seen rigs on 31s open/open make it through but they did not look the same coming out!

So if you dont mind body damage come on out

Where exactly is the rubicon located?

Can i do it in my 90 xj with 4.5" rustys kit hd trac bar and 33"s with stock 30/35?

From what I've heard, I don't think a Dana 35 and 33s is a safe combination anywhere rocks are involved. And there are rocks on the Rubicon, which is in the Lake Tahoe area.

Now I just need to figure out a way to coordinate getting my teens up to Tahoe (two are licensed drivers) about the time we come off the trail... I'd thought of trying to budget to camp in Tahoe with them this summer; now my mind's plotting how to pull that off & tie it into me now getting to shotgun/co-drive on the Rubicon.

But then there's the concept of them successfully packing whatever I didn't bring with me that's needed for camping for a few days. Yikes! And the thought of 15, 17 & 18yos on a 600 mile road trip... double yikes!

date is set - i'd like to have several peeps chime in - socalbill, al, brad, jeeperjohn, CAL (i know u busy, but there were questions u can answer). i've met alot of peeps on the trail (cleg, JB, gold mtn) it's up to ya'll to chime in.

so the date is set... which date is that? im trying every which way i can humanly possible to make this trip, i just need sliders, lockers front tow point...maybe 8" wheels =) my buddy is suppose to be selling me his winch bumper minus the winch... but ya im squeezing every penny i can, this kinda trip will be like a dream come true... by golly if i have to turn red just to make this trip i will!

Leaving june 27th ( that's a Sunday) so we can get there, set up and run Monday morning. We come back when were done. Hopefully no later than Friday or sat. The 2nd of july.

Some areas could be 15 ft.+/-,but 4ft. avg. on the trail not unusual.....SANTA
