Rubicon trip for 2010????

Ill make sure I bring my own TP. Can we get a list of things we should take on a trip like this from experienced guys who have done this?

Make sure you bring your own toilet too. You must have a portable potty or a bumper dumper. You can NOT dig a hole and bury it. You must take your crap with you.

The Chapter owns a PETT toilet, but I have no idea who has it right now. Probably Goatman. Last year, I took a folding toilet seat that I got from Big 5 and some WAGG bags to crap into.

Besides that, take plenty of firewood and insect repellant. And of course, food, water, proper clothing, and spare parts.

Which spare parts is up to you. Last year, Rollins lost a pressure side power steering hose. And lamula lost his rear drum brakes. I lost an upper control arm bolt, but I had my ammo can of spare nuts and bolts with me.

If anybody in your group has a ham radio, definitely bring it. It can be a life saver, as was the case in '04.

I'm sure others will add to the list.

Really? you have to take your crap with you? Didn't know that. hmmm... gonna have to ring a big Tupperware so it keeps the stink in.

I vote for a weekday trip... maybe start the trail on a Monday.

June 15-20 is something called the Rubithon. (http://www.rubithon.com/)

How about starting the trail on June 21 or June 28 (Monday)?

I 2nd the weekday idea. I will be off this summer and the less crowds we have the better.

Father's Day is June 20, so hitting the trail on Monday the 21st may be tough for me.

How about starting the trail on June 28 (Monday)? People can use the weekend of the 25-27 to get up to Loon Lake?

If we spent 3 nights on the trail, we would get into Tahoma on Thursday. That would give us a couple days to work our way back to So Cal before July 4th, which would be on that Sunday.

Being a dad myself i guess its important to be around for that. I wouldn't mind leaving on Monday instead. I really want to avoid going close to any holidays or big events. Also, would like to plan this so that it is convenient for everyone planning on attending.

Ill see what the Sierra chapter guys say about coming along.

I like these dates. This must be the only chance I have. I will have to invite my brother to come along hope it will be okay. He's a YJ guy. Only down fall.

Count me IN. Set a date now, so we can start aiming for it.

Well, i wanna go and plan for the day after Fathers day. We could leave the 21st and come back sat or friday. I just need a definite yes from at least 3-4 guys. As a reminder though, this is gonna be quite challenging if we head up and none of us know the trail :P.

You mean leave So Cal on Monday the 21st? Start the trail on Tuesday?

Sure, of actually after carefully thinking this over the following week may work better. My son should be off for summer vacation and this way i wont have to pay extra for after school care. :)

So can we set a date for the weekend of the 28th of June- July the 2nd?

We can either leave Sunday morning and start the trail Monday or Drive Monday morning and start Tuesday. Both work for me :)

So Hows that sound guys??? Plenty of time to save money and get your rigs up to Rubicon Standards???

Take an MJ. It keeps the stink OUT and gives you a place to carry all the fuel cans and broken stuff.

John

Last year, my MJ was where everyone would throw all the firewood we found along the way. I told everyone that if they put their crap bags in the back of my truck, I would have it DNA tested and that they would get it back.

I would love to bring my family on this trip so they can see something other than desert scenery, but on the other side of the coin I have a buddy in NoCal that wants to ride shotgun with me when I do this trail.

the date doesn't matter as long as the cash is avail... I'd love to go on this though.
