Rubicon trip for 2010????

Terry and I have spoken about this before and I figured I would post this up to gauge interest. As for the 18 wheeler dealy, it sounds great but like johnnyC said, I think its best to drive up there as its part of the trip. Johnny, any plans on making it out there this year? I ask cause I know u are familiar with this place.

Mmmmmm Bulgogi!

It was actually kalbi. :)

I'm already supposed to be going up with another group. That is, if I can save up some $$$. I was doing it every other year, '04, '06, '08. Then I was asked to set up a run in '09. This year would make it three in a row. So I'm still debating.

i'm in for this for sure - been a dream for a long time - but wanna take my time. i'll donate my commercial driver time if others pick up the rest of the tab (rig, ins, fuel), but don't think it would be worth it. Julio, socalbill, cal, & others have deep interest in this trip. a weekday run would be best, not as many clubs running it - gotta make sure it doesn't intersect w/ other jeeper clubs also

That was the year we had 3 koreans on the trail.

Did the planets somehow align fore this???? Haha!

Let's get the ball rolling on this. Got my money set aside. Also plan on either getting some spares and maybe installing a SYE and a beefier rear DS.

I'd happily ride b!tch, if someone(s) will put up with me! Just so I can actually see it...

Unless something falls off Johnny's Commanche and hits your windsheild on the way up there. Was probably a control arm bolt, now that I Think of it. Here is some good advice. Reserve a hotel room in Tahoe on your way home. Nothing better than a hot shower and a soft bed to sleep in after being on the Rubicon for 4 days. Just my 2 cents.
Danny

That's what I always tell people. If you go into Tahoe without a reservation, especially on a weekend, you'll likely be SOL.

Baby wipes work for me... I'm a dirty mexican, showers are a luxury for me. :p J/K

All good ideas guys. Keep em coming. Also let's figure out what days are good to go so that its not on a weekend/weekday where there are a lot of people.

I am VERY interested in joining you guys. I just need to get some new shocks and limit straps for my front and new tires and I will be good to go. I was too lazy to read this entire thread, so.... Have you guys picked any dates?

Just a suggestion but you could always post this on the Sierra chapter as well and see if any of them want to join you. They live closer to the Rubicon and I'm sure many of them have been on the trail... I'll definitely try to make this as I've always wanted to go.

I'd love to go, but this is the year we were gonna try and make it back to NY to see family...My vacation time will already be used up.

Julio be sure to put the tp back in your rig. I'm gonna keep my eye on this thread. Sounds muy interesante.

I didn't think to post that up in that section but that's a great idea. I forget there are others not just socal :p

I vote for a weekday trip... maybe start the trail on a Monday.

June 15-20 is something called the Rubithon. (http://www.rubithon.com/)

How about starting the trail on June 21 or June 28 (Monday)?

I can pretty much request any day off from work so long as I put it in writing 2 weeks prior. But june works for me. Weekday sounds good too incase we need to stay extra days for the weor the weekend :p

Ill make sure I bring my own TP. Can we get a list of things we should take on a trip like this from experienced guys who have done this?
