Rough Country

Missing leading prices, missing parts, not the way I would go if I had to do it again. Thought there price on a 4.5 suspension lift for 1k was awesome until I had to spend an additional 600 on parts to get it to work. Their product has alot to be desired, but they didn't lie b/c it is in their name ROUGH. Go with Fabtech or one of the more expensive brands that has a full kit with everything included in it, you get what you pay for.

Ya I bet fabtech is the way to go.....:looser:

Wait, you spent $1,000 for a RC 4.5" lift?!?!? I guess I'm going to have to go back and look to see which RC 4.5" kit sells for $1000. Mine was $450 with AAL, and I recently added full leaf springs for $250, so total mine was $700.

I've been running the original kit for 15 months with zero problems, and that was from day one of the installation. No missing parts, and no issues. Even the AAL were fine, I just went AAL to be cheap, I always knew I wanted full leaf replacements.

Did you order your kit from Jason(GRIMUS99XJ)?
Not all vendors are created equal.
I found one vendor that offered me a better deal on the lift kit I got...but decided to stay with Jason because of the good reports he has recieved on this board.
Jason (GRIMUS99XJ) has done right by me so far and at this time I happy with our dealings.

my front end suspension on my Mj was rough Country and it worked great. the coil springs compressed better then anyother springs i have used. ONe problem I have is the lower control arm bushing wear very fast and become loose and make noise. But other than that I works great!

The best customer service i have ever found.
I trashed the bushings on my lower control arm last fall. I just got around to replacing them and RC sent me some bushings that were too small, it turns out they no longer make the style of control arm i use so there solution is to send me the new type at NO COST. I will continue to do business with this company. THANKS DAVY.

Killer Customer Service!!! Thanks Jason!! I called for bushing replacements for my 9000 shocks, he took care of it pronto. I'm looking forward to buying the control arm drop brackets, it's all based on the positive comments from everyone.

Talk to you soon!!

I have the older arms and I can't adjust them short enough with the RE Drop Brackets... anyone else run into this issue? It's not a huge difference but I need about 3 more turns of adjustment.

I have the same exact issue. I guess you may have to cut the arms.
I have the RC Drop Brackets and couldnt turn the old RC arms in far enough.

I assume they weren't originally created to replace a near stock to 2-3" lift which is about the difference the drop brackets make from my full lift height. About a 3" drop and 1/2" forward means I'm about 1/2" short of the sweet spot I'd like to adjust my lower arms to. Suck.

6.5'' RC kit installed here, 6 months later and still holding up. Def. need to keep the front sway bars connected while normal around town or highway driving though. It's a scary ride trying to dodge animals or taking some decent turns at higher speeds with them disconnected...

Just thought I'd post my reaction as a new old guy to modifying my XJ. I have really been teetering between Rough Country and Rusty's. I sent Rusty's an email question and never got an answer. I emailed Jason and he answered me. I should have just read this whole thing as most of my questions would have been answered. I am very impressed with Jason's willingness to jump into the fray and that has helped me decide to buy Rough Country. I currently have new 30 inch tires at stock height. I'm painting my new rock rails and thinking I want to wear out these tires before I do anything more. But I'm undecided between 3 and 4.5 with 31's or 33's. Leaning toward 3" and 31's.

Just got some of the new Rough Country upper control arms because I was too lazy/not enough time to make my own. Very disappointed to find out they are made in India. I wish I would have paid the extra money to get some other ones that are made in the USA or just made my own out of US steel.

As for the product the workmanship is OK. You get what you pay for I guess.

did you get their new style arm with a flex joint or the old style arm. are they adjustable or fixed?

I just got the wheel spacers, shocks, quick discos, and control arm drop brackets in the mail a few days ago. I put the wheel spacers on. They are awesome. I can't wait to get the rest of this stuff on.
