Ross's Jeep that will take longer than Rob's to build thread...

Re: Ross's Box and Sticker Collection

Naw, I showed them to someone a little while ago. Then they went back in their bag.

Re: Ross's Box and Sticker Collection

I should have 2 lengths of tubing around 22" each left over.

Semi-midarms :woohoo: I figured out with my joints, if I leave ~1/2" of threads showing after the jam nut, I could get like 30" LCA's. The midarms on my SJ setup was something in the low-mid 20's. Im not worried about these being shorter then typical long arms, my old midarms flexed more then enough so these should too.

Re: Ross's Box and Sticker Collection

Both rear fenders are done, leafs are getting assembled soon, just spent $1k on 60 parts, knuckles are currently in the oven with 46 minutes left on the timer, front end waiting to get assembled and under jeep, etc. Stuff's getting done, cool photos coming soon!!! ;)

Slacker.

Re: Ross's Box and Sticker Collection

I bet his mom came home as he was taking them out of the oven

RIP Ross

Thankfully, they didn't smell too bad and raise any suspicions. Meatballs and pasta were made afterwards to cover and distract from any signs of illegal useage.

Re: Ross's Box and Sticker Collection

I've frequently thought about adding an extra burner and insulation to an oven so you could get up to, say, 700 degrees. You could temper tool steel in your kitchen!
Also: dishwasher as parts washer! Just add Gojo!

and..

More pics!

Re: Ross's Box and Sticker Collection

Got the knuckles all done. Everywhere got plated with a layer of 3/16" then I added a chunk of 3/4" plate on the front for an area for a 5th bolt. It got beveled and welded on with two passes, followed by a second layer of 3/16" that captured it and welded on even more. Both sides top to bottom are now 3/8" plated. Im just waiting the high steer arms to show up so I can drill/tap/finish the knuckles.

Got more boxes of parts and finally, after a couple of years, started to reassemble the 60.

And then I put it under the jeep!!!!! Got the 2.25"x0.375" DOM drops from Colin and made up some LCA's. Right now they're 30" long but I think Im gunna shorten them up a few inches so the frameside joint with fall roughly with the center on the tranny pan when viewed from the side. The front end is sitting somewhere around 5.5/6" of lift according to the dirty method, we'll see how close I can keep it to that. Oil pan to truss clearance and tire to LCA clearance look good.

That front axle is purdy 

Re: Ross's Box and Sticker Collection

Seems like more than 5.5" of lift to me.

Who cares though. I don't get why people obsess over being at a certain amount of "lift"

Its the prettiest waste of time ever, did it need a hugetastic truss or to be narrowed? Not really. But damn it looks cool and strong.

Dirty method says front tube to frame is like ~6.75", I measured somewhere around 12-13".

I agree though, I could care less what my actual lift measurement is. As long as its low enough to fit everything but not tall enough to look like some giantic FL mudder, Im happy. I have the feeling that when its on its own wieght, itll sit a little bit taller then now but once I add more weight/tools/spares/etc it should come back down. Time will tell.

Re: Ross's Box and Sticker Collection

nobody cares.

Re: Ross's Box and Sticker Collection

Its definatly a rewarding feeling when both axles are under it just wait till it rolls! looking good!

Wade, what's the length on your LCA's? Im probably gunna setup my frame mounts like yours, just inboarded a little bit.
