As yall can tell by now Im quite pissed about this happening. I wouldnt have said a word if the event had been planned for Hidden Falls from the beginning as I would have just planned for it. Notice my post count and youll see I hardly post unless I feel the need to. I am active in the club participating in events and trying to meet the members though. Unfortunately its stuff like this that has led to many a chapter member being run off or just giving up on the chapter I believe. I sure hope for the chapters sake that yall correct this so that we dont lose any more of the very few members we do have. Im not attacking anyone so please dont take it that way. But I would love to hear other members views on this issue.
Not to split hairs here but let's take a look at things. You keep throwing the word member around. Define it. And by it....I mean define the word member as it pertains to naxja.org. All those awesome prizes, all the public lands that are kept open for wheeling (granted, not as prevelent in our region), hell even this website.....you think that shit comes for free? Before anyone here starts beating their chest about how they're trod down upon and they have no say because the big bad bod pushes them around, perhaps they should consider how much they're apart of to begin with. Post count don't mean shit. Whether you post 100 times a year or 100 times a week. Supporting the org supports the org.
On that note.....hardly a dime of yearly membership dues go to chapter funds. Has anyone here noticed Jay hawking his wares upon the for sale chapter? Trying to ditch 1 and 2 year old shirts at a fraction of the price of what was originally asked for them knowing that hardly anyone wants them. Hell, I've got a handful of XL ROM '10 and '11 shirts in my closet and I can't even wear an XL anymore without it looking like a tent on me. To even get funds together for things like this, we have to have preregistration sign ups for the big event. I still don't think poor Kurt ever went in the black again after all the money he and Kristy personally put into ROM '10. Jay was finally able to scrap together enough money this year to start an account for RRC treasury. Not only does this look cleaner from an auditing standpoint but it finally clears anyone person from being responsible for making things happen out of their own pockets whether they were actually responsible for they just cared enough to make it so. And so here we are.....a week out and I have more finger on my right hand than this chapter has members (or users) that will preregister for the event.
This chapter has to be one of the biggest geographically speaking and yet we have the smallest base of participation. Is it because we don't do everything we can to recruit every single xj driver we see....perhaps. But the fact is, it's around 300 miles or so from katemcy/hidden falls (and further out trees ranch) to gilmer/bridgeport (and further out hot springs and disney). This huge stretch with a ginormous perimeter area and very few wheeling spots around lends itself to few enthusiasts. I wasn't really vested in chapter activity a few years back as I didn't have a 4wd xj but I'm pretty sure that RRC didn't exist. As it exists now, it's just a conglomeration of left of bits other chapters couldn't quite absorb and it appears that it won't ever get better despite any efforts from the current or past BOD. Maybe Jay has had enough, maybe he hasn't. That's for him to decide. Who wants to step up and actually challenge him next time there's an election? Or are you saving your gusto and campaign speeches for when something happens in the chapter you don't like? Yeah, I thought so.
