Rocktoberfest 2011 - October 21st-23rd, Rausch Creek PA

sorry, 3 settings... on, on the rev limiter, and off

I installed a hand throttle so i could set it to rev limiter and then put both feet out the window.
great for racing, also helps when you need to prevent a flop

I might add that many people in Naxja go to great lengths and expense to get out to this event, and want to get the most time and trails that they can when they get here. We have a 3 hour run to do Rausch, Lavern, but many others run and tow for much more than that to make this event, and even locals like us sacrifice paid workdays to make it out. Trying to schedule it so that all involved can get the most out of it is what makes this "unofficial" event sooo popular! I look forward to this run like no other, it's a great time of year to camp and wheel, and sit around enjoying the warmth of the fire and the good company, and I know many others feel the same.
Viva RockToberFest!

Been out of commission for a while with health & PC problems (I finally broke down & bought a damn lap top :( ) Rich so I missed all the fun & your 2 replies.

Didn't know I asked all that you answered. My question was in reference to 1 comment, not intended to raise anyone's hackles. I just wondered if the "debacle" referred to had something to do with actually combining the 2 events & something had gone awry. Like many I also go to great lengths Rich - it might be 3 hours for you doing 75 in your F350, but it's 5 hrs or more for me in my puny Dodge or Mo's "little" Tundra. I speak only for me as do most here. It was great last year to have had the opportunity to do both worthy events at 1 shot because for personal reasons I really want to support the Crawl + NAXJA events are also fun & I don't want to miss them either. However, unlike "some" I can't afford (neither timewise nor financially) to make multiple "away" wheeling trips in any 1 month. It would have been great to combine again this year, but I do understand the overcrowding thing as it's a pain for us all.

Anyway, I'll make the difficult decision as to which I can attend next month. I still don't have the official word on what is really going on with the Crawl, but now that I have a computer again I can visit their website & shake the tree.

Peace - and call me sometimes dammit!

...No hackles were raised, I was merely trying to explain it as best I could from past experience and some concerns that were registered last year...
As for "debacle", again I believe it had to do with the crowded park, nothing more. There was one slight name-calling incident on the trail that I heard about, but that had little to do with the schedule to my knowledge.
What may raise my hackles would be any insinuations regarding financial status. I struggle to pay for things like most others, and lost numerous months in the past couple of years due to layoffs. What I do have is paid for with long hours, early mornings, blood, sweat, and an "iffy" back. I heard those kind of jokes during the "poorboyz" days, and I resented them then, and still do now. Nonissue, period. Had nothing to do with comments regarding the schedule of events, and we need not speak of that here.

I'm just jealous - don't get your panties in a bunch. The ones that might have said nasty things in the past might have intended to be malicious. None of that here. I think we're friends and we can agree to disagree.

And you can still call.

Hand throttles?!?! Just mash the gas pedal and then dump the clutch. :dunno:

blah, everyone says you are wussy if you cant heel toe etc. But when your wearing big ass hiking boots, covered in mud on slippery pedals its less than ideal. I even use the hand throttle just to drive around the park because its steady and when you go over bumps & your foot bounces on the gas it can snap your neck. Its made stopping and starting on some steep hills alot easier for me, and easier on the parts etc.

I used to have a hand throttle, it almost killed me...twice, so i took it off, but i left the supplied spring on the throttle body.

I like it, on the bumpy trails im not bliping the thorttle as much, and on the road, i dont give it as much throttle, because it is stiffer.

I've run one for years in 3 different rigs, and I don't care what anyone says, I agree completely...a properly set up handthrottle makes the trip so much smoother its not even a comparison, even with an auto trans. Poke fun all you want,....

None of the above, just don't suck at wheeling stick.

Ride the clutch a bit, let off the brake and get on the gas.

Deep gearing is 100% necessary.

I drive stick as well, and agree that when you drive a stick, it's all about the gearing, which makes it a whole lot easier to ease over obstacles. Then the second part is knowing how to drive stick!

The only thing you drive is people crazy...

I hope so, ,maybe we wont get bitched at again at 11pm on the dot

Just called to confirm, and yes, they've got us in the upper field on the 20th-23rd.

Wade, if anything, we're going to have to be even more careful this time around. They're giving us a second chance, not a free-for-all.
