Rockkrawler Long Arm Question

I have been running my Rockkrawler long arm upgrade for about a month now. I love it. My only issue with it is regarding maintenance of the arms. They came with these rediculously small grease fittings (10-32) and they have all broken except one.

I tried being careful when greasing, but they just seem to snap if a large gust of wind hits them just right.

I called RockKrawler to order a few more, and while discussing it with the phone rep, he kinda made me feel like an idiot for breaking them, Like I was doing something wrong and he had no clue how I broke them.

I asked him why couldn't I just drill and retap for a bigger sized zirk, one that will not break and he told me " oh no, that can't be done. You don't want to do that" but offered no expanation as to why.

Anyone with these arms upgrade your zirks to a standard size with better strength?

Did you ask him why not? Could be he didn't want more material removed but I can't see how it would reduce the strength much. I currently have their short arm and have not broken a zerk. All mine are mounted facing up off the rocks, this does make it hard to grease. But I am able to get grease in all of them.

Thats pretty much what I was thinking. Not sure why rockkrawler said not to drill em out and install bigger zirks. I can only hope that he knew I would do it AFTER taking the joint apart first :)

X2 on RK poor customer service recommendations. I called to get a new UCA bushing and he made it sound like it was an unbreakable thing. "You must not have tightned it or its too loose, or you didnt grease it." I said look pal the bushing is shot, it was installed and greased correctly, send me the phukn bushing...so he did. BTW the krawler joints are a thread in retainer, def. more stout than the spring style retainer like the ones they send with the kit...whenever that becomes a prob for you if it hasnt already.

this has been discussed. its a common problem with the RK fittings. i ordered a set of 10 from RK and use extra care when applying the grease. just be careful.

Honestly I do not want to simply replace with the same strength lacking fittings. No real reason I can see why they didn't go with a more standard size which offers so much more strength.

I think on my day off I will drill them all out and tap em for the better fittings. See how it goes.

I'd rather deal with alittle minor maintance than deal with rubicon noisy cartridge joints or rubber bushings,
the best way to grease the RK joints are to dissasemble them and grease them by hand and locktight the outer nuts, it just takes alittle longer, but out here in the southwest where we don't know what rain and mud is, our grease last alittle longer as well so maybe thats why I think your alittle whiney, eitherway to each his own, their is no "perfect" mass produced suspension lift.
