So after wanting to do this for a long time i finally pulled the trigger, unbolted the jcr sliders sold them, came up with enough money to buy all the steel i needed. so far i have one whole side completed the doors were trimmed 1.75in and the whole rocker was removed. I followed madxjs write up and erics xj (thanks),but also made a few little changes of my own, all in all im very happy with the results and cant wait to wheel it!
first thing first remove the doors.
then i cut out the rocker, just leaving the bases of the pillars,
i kept my carpet and seats in whilke doing this so i used a street sign to put between the carpet and the floor to keep the heat from burning my carpet, and it worked pretty well.
this is where i deviated from there write ups,i kind of combined the two, i added two small strips of angle iron and then put 3x3/16 flat stock over to help the 2x6 from upward hits, so basically i put erics and mad xjs ideas togeather.
im not going into full detail you get the idea and can see from the other two writeups that were really helpful,it is a great way to gain clearence and protection at the same time, difficulty for me i would say 6 out of 10 just a little nervous to make the frist cut.
