Rockauto Spectra fuel tank leaking

Spectra fuel tank not sealing around the sender unit.
I have a 95 XJ and have replaced the fuel tank with a Rockauto Spectra fuel tank. The lock ring is so flimsy looking that I used the original. The tabs on the tank where the sender unit and pump goes in that pressers on the lock ring and holds everything in is so poorly constructed that the tabs are bowing out which means there is not enough pressure being applied to the rubber o-ring and it leaks.
This after market part thing has become ridiculous. The Carter pump and sender unit screemed so bad I took it out and replaced it with a Chineese Carter pump. The first Carter was made in Mexico. The gauge is now reading incorrect about 1/4 of a rank high.
Does anybody make a decent fuel tank for a 95 XJ.

Is there a leak/gas in your float?

I think '91-'96 are all the same. Might go even earlier, but I haven't played around with any of the Renix or earlier fuel tanks.

I put an aftermarket tank in my '96 10 years ago and it has been fine. Likewise, for my '92 6 years ago. However, I did note that they were thinner steel and lacked much of the internal support/bracing to be found in the OE tanks. Sadly, the junkyards around me drain the fuel out of their tanks by punching a hole in the bottom.

Getting good replacement parts is indeed becoming more difficult.

I thought you also had a thread on the fuel pump o-ring leaking?

The leaking fuel tank O-ring was on my dad's '90 Chevy C2500. The issue with that one was the pathetic excuse for a mechanic who did the fuel pump. He didn't bother to clean out all the dust/dirt that fell into the groove for the O-ring. It didn't make for a noticeable leak while using the truck, but when I had to pull the bed to service the fuel pump again (rubber line inside the tank failed) I then saw what had been going on with the seal at the top.

If search engines worked worth a tinker's curse I would link that thread...
