what kinda pussy has someone else install their lift?

i worry about rock krawler, they tend not to sweat the small stuff (like their 3-link's upper bushing @ the axle... TERRIBLE DESIGN

My brother took this...

And built this. Did all the body work, paint, installation of everything 90% himself. Only thing he didn't do was rebuild the engine or tranny.

I installed the lift in his 98 XJ because he didn't have the time to do it with being in law school now.

You lack a brain .

So after reading this im second guessing myself about going from 4.5 inches of lift to 6.5 while running 33's... Is this not a good idea? I dont have the money for new tires, plus my BFG's mud terrians have like 90% tread left. Does this all have to do with rising your center of gravity?

You seem to like it so just buy it.

Get what YOU want and do it right the first time. ;)

All the kits you mentioned are good long arm kits so you can't go wrong with any of them.

this is what i am going after! doing it right the first time! i think there kit looks great! i have the ability to install myself that is not an issue. all of the long arm kits out there look good and seem like alot of you like them for different reasons from what i read. the big thing in this kit that i like is the 4-link rear. all of it in a kit for 2700 dosnt seem bad to me at all.

For 33's 4.5 is plenty... with trimming and bump-stopping you can run 35's at 4.5. Keep your COG as low as you can. I run 33's easily with a RE 3.5 kit (which is actually a 4.5).

im seriously thinking about the Rough country but the arms hang low. That is one of the setbacks that i can see the other is no removable crossmember. But the price, you cant beat it. Hit up GRIMUS99XJ about the Rough country if you are interested.

I like the treks kit also. Price is close to a after grand shipping though.

The RK kit i always hear great things about and i would love to get that but once again after shipping its close to a grand.

to many choices in the 1k range and only 1 under that..

i should have put it on the list i totally spaced it. the crossmember/skid looks amazing! with all the low center of gravity talk, i got to thinking. why do you not really see to many people with full width axles on there xj's?

The arms don't hang THAT low. I just installed RC's LA two days ago and i'm impressed with it. There are a few "WTF's" with the kit but it installed fine and rode like a dream. Best $1k i ever spent.

Hey,

Im not knockin it. I am seriously considering that kit myself. Im just throwing the comparison that they are in fact lower than the other kits mentioned. But the cost is awesome and cant be beat.

I like the looks of it and the few write ups I seen say great things! I already have a lift s an upgrade kit could get me that longarm setup and a locker for what the other kits cost.

Figured I'd add my .02. I run the RK 3-link up front and have about 6" of lift. I run 33x12.5 TSLs with trimmed fenders front and rear. I extended the front bumpstops about 2", nothing extra in the rear. I still rub under full flex a little bit front and rear. Yes, I could bumpstop more, but I don't want to limit it any more. Being at 4.5" with 33's would limit it that much more. So, I like the 6" lift with 33s. I think it's a good combo. Now, I don't run rocks very much as I'm in FL (stupid FL terrain), so maybe the 4.5" is better for the rocks, I don't know.

Regardless, the RK 3-link is a nice kit. The arms are beefy as all hell.

RK is a good kit, just purchased mine. The arms are SOLID not hollow tubing... nice and beefy. And, I haven't heard anything bad about the joint on the upper axle end, but I will chime in if I run into problems...
