Rock Krawler 3-Link Install

Ive been looking at the Rock Krawler kit a lot, and it seems its highly recommended. My one question is, how is the upper arm bracket installed? As in how is it put underneath the all the lines that are running along the inside of the frame. Is it able to slide underneath them by pulling the lines out? Or if anyone has a digital version of the installation instructions they would like to share that would be great.

RK has changed their kit to a bolt on now with the upper and drivers side lower as one bracket. the fuel lines actually run behind the bracket now. they must be pulled loose from the clips they are in to clear the bolts for the bracket. other than that they remain untouched. this kit is super easy to install.

Here's a pic of the whole kit, but you can see the brackets fairly clearly:

So you dont stitch weld the new brackets to the unibody?

If so that's just scray...

update: I just ripped the passenger side axle side LCA mount off. It seems it can't take nearly as much stress as those beefy long arms.

I will admit that I was trying to use momentum to climb a vertical wall of mud and the tire just bounced off. On the plus side I made it through the hole and home. I discovered the mess when I washed it. Only one stitch weld (made by me) left holding the Bracket on the axle.

if i understand him right this has nothing to do with the rk kit...its the factory mount that is failing. the unibody willfail before the rk brackets. if you weld in the sleeves supplied in the kit the hole cant wallow out.

ditto i read the same that he ripped the control arm bracket off at the axle end. not on the frame rail.

Check out the new design at the rockkrawler site. First, it says welding required, second, under "jeep build components" it says for '90 and newer?? Anyone know why?

no one's referring to him ripping off his LCA mount. I was referring to the fact that the new mounting brackets are purely bolt on. That scares me...

About the LCA mount that broke off... did you have it boxed in w/ something similar to the JKS miniskids?

yes the factory mount is what is failing.

The brackets were stock with the exception that I stitch welded them to the coil buckets where they were close enough, and that is probably the reason I didn't lose the entire axle.

On another note It sounds like my gears are grinding a bit too, but my first diagnosis was a worn wheel bearing. It is intermittent so when I brought it to the local shop the guy didn't hear anything except driveshaft joints. Both bearings were out of spec and changed, but the noise is still there, wether the front DS is connected or not.

It looks like the new front mounts, mount to the frame rails just like their rear mounts for ther coilover conversion do!?! If so, they aren't going anywhere!! Bolted or welded, they are on there!!

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this thread. I used 3X3 X 3/16 angle for the frame rails. I broke off a couple of the zerk fittings on rocks so I relocated them and welded up the old holes. Ill have to get pics up soon. This was definetly worth my time. I dont know what they are thinking putting them where they do. My first time in the rocks ripped them right off. Here is a link to my pics regarding the first time I redrilled the zirks for bigger ones, but before I relocated them: (click "long arms frame rails")

Enjoy, and youguys have any specific questions regarding what I did, dont be afraid to PM me, as I probably wont get back to this thread for a while.
