no the brackets they came with the kit i guess they are newer, but maybe i should tell you guys this is on a grand cherokee but I dont think that should make it diffrent

They still suggest you weld them on dont they?? This would be my kit of choice if it used a better bolt on system.

they have two bolts in them plus stitch welding on the unibody frame rails... plus the inner arm mount is held on with 4 bolts that is samwiched on the fram rail... it is a pretty good system but no crossmember... i am going to do mine tomorow hopefully... i got it at a good price plus the solid stock is well very solid... the arms must weigh 50 pounds each and the heim joints look stout... anyways thanks for the response

ok i see somehow i have the zj arm mounts... that is my problem and sorry for asking such a dumb question becasue i see the difference in the brackets...could someone measure their arm lengths for the 3 arms to make sure i got the right arms? the 3rd bracket that mounts on the inside of the rail looks fine... anyways thanks!

The measurements should be listed in the instructions. If not, I can check and post them up for you. You may have to make minor adjustments afterwards.

yeah mine are at 28 1/4 for lowers tube end to tube end and the 3rd member is 34 3/4 tube end to end of forked end which mounts on top of pumkin so i think the arms are fine i just need to switch out mounts... wierd b/c i did get the upgrade kit from someone here on naxja... oh well thanks guys and these arms are the ones that are straight... no bend in them like the newest ones... i am calling rockkrawler tomorow to see if i can switch out the mounts... thanks again.

oh i have the instructions in a word doc and they dont really specify and lengths... maybe i looked over it but didnt see any specs on the arms... the mounts i have definatly are the ones in the ZJ kit

What are your measurements eye to eye?

Per Rock Krawler :
1. Front Lower Control Arm Assembled Length = 27.75"
2. Upper Control (Torque) Arm Assembled Length = 28.79"

As stated my lower arms are 27 7/8" from center of bolt to center of bolt. Measure that way and not the actual arm length. I just say this because your upper arm seems to be way too long. How much threads do you have showing on the upper arm? To be safe I wouldnt show more than 1/2 in or so.

Hope this helps.. If not, just ignore it...

Chris

wow lowers are 32 inches eye to eye w/ 1/2 threads showing....... dang it well i will call them tomrorow and see if i can exchange the kit it is new... anyways the kit is pretty much the same for the xj but looks like longer and different brackets for the lower arms.... man! i am kinda mad i have had it sitting for about 3 months and just got around to installing it.... oh well i will call them tomorow or monday and see if i can switch it out with an xj kit with a local distributor or installer... thanks for the help

upper torq arm: just under 36 eye to eye

nice pictures and explanations! I just picked up my first xj and I am going to get the RK lift, either 6.5" or 8". How many inches was your kit. If its 6.5", could you run 35's with just trimmin on the front and back of the front fenders? Thanks for the help

oh ya where you buy your kit from, i have been looking on ebay and its around $6500. Any ideas where to get it cheaper????? thanks!

The 6.5in kit suggested retail is $1,899!! You can get the 8in rear coilover kit for 3,499!

I just finished (well sort of) installing this kit as well as some frame stiffeners this weekend. I have a couple questions for youguys that have this kit installed allready. First, which end did youguys put the bushing, and which end with the flex joint on the lowers? UNCC engineer, I saw you put the bushing at the frame end, which is what I did, it makes more sence that way, but it looks like xj jeeper01 put the flex joint at the frame end. The directions dont make it too clear, in fact, the picture shows the flex joint at the frame. One more thing, since the lower control arms have a bend in them, my understanding was that they were "high clearance" arms, meaning the bend should point up (if that makes sence). Well, my jeep only has about 3.5-4" of lift, and the control arms are about half an inch from the frame, obviously not giving me hardly any up travel. I could twist the arms, but then it puts bind on the bushings. I think I will end up putting another 1 inch spacer in the front to get a little more lift, but I dont really want to. PLEASE HELP. I usually would figure this kind of thing out myself, but figured youguys could help me out. Thanks
-Jerry

Bushing goes at the frame end.

My arms are very close to the frame rail as well:

But it still flexes very well!

Yep again, the bushing goes at the frame end. The old kits had flex joints at all ends so maybe that's what you're looking at.

Also, my arms are close to the frame but do not touch even when maxed out. Im running about 5.0" of lift though.

My only complaint with the RK joints is the noise. Im going to remove mine and weld in some RE superflex joints...
