welp, after savin up and getting my bouns and tax returns, i'm ready to take the plunge and lift my xj. i'm going with the re 6130 w/ a few upgrades. there are a few problems though -

#1 - i live in an apt that's picky about wrenching on rigs in the parking lot
#2 - i have only basic tools for regular maintenance (not even jackstands)
#3 - no real first hand experience installing a lift but i'm eager to get my hands dirty and learn

i was wondering if anybody close by that knows what they're doing around a xj would be willing to give my xj a spot to squat as well as help install the lift? i'd of course provide all needed refreshments  . maybe it would be a cool time to have a local meet-n-greet? :dunno:

I'm not near Roanoke, but if you don't
find anyone else, you can make a little 4 hour drive up here to the Martinsburg, WV/Hagerstown, MD area sometime. We've done a few lifts and are always ready for an excuse for some more wrenching and to help another member out. By the way...Cinderblocks make the best jack stands. :)
Look around a little more for someone in your area, then we'll set something up if need be.

i dunno how old u r.....or what you're into.....but, VA TECH has a fourwheelin club, SC4WDA......my boyfriend and i used to run and be members of the club. check them out at www.sc4wda.org i know that a lot of them have $$$$ and the tools to go with it......but make sure you pick someone with a brain to match.

biovore, thanks for the offer. but where i'm gonna have to wait a week or so for my new driveshaft after my sye kit, i'd be worried about putting that many miles on my front axle only. but thanks :D

xjgrl, i'll have to look into it. i'm a vt alum (graduated '01). i've got a friend that knows one of the SWVA4W members. i think i'm gonna ask him cause he's a little more local. but thanks so far for all the help. if anyone else is willing and able, i'm still lookin for help :D

If you are in Maryland you should try A1 Driveshafts. They are in Baltimore and could possibly make you a shaft the same day. Just something to think about. I'd call them and find out first.
