road trip

We took a trip today and ended up in a little bit of trouble. I don't know how hard the wind was blowing but with all the snow we've had...visibility was unreal. I was on highway 285 (2 lane) not far Fairplay which is close to Breckenridge. There was times when I was just slow rolling along and looking out my window so I could see the yellow lines and know that I wasn't going into the ditch or into opposing traffic. Once I got into Fairplay, the State Troopers were waiting and shut the gates behind me. We had all the windows up and still had a lot of snow in the back seat. I guess the powder came in through any crack it could find. It was a little scary for a second. I didn't want to stop b/c I thought I might get hit and it was so cold with the wind chill that I thought it was best to just go slow. Here's some pics:

Scanning for fish in the South Platte. The Cutts and Bows will be spawning soon but nothing much is going on just yet. Do these jeans make my butt look big? :D

Whoa! Apparently I was finishing up something there. The Misses was being funny. I really was peeing there and not doing.....something else.....by the river. (That would just be....gross.)

I know that area, looks like it was really gettin' with it today!!!
We were just out there for Christmas and had to get out before the second storm hit.
By the way, we used to have a cabin in Divide when I was young, so I know Woodland Park pretty well too.
Now my wife and I own some land in Westcliffe and hope to be moving there within the year.
Looks like you had an exciting day!!
Thanks for the pics!

I think it's safe to say you've taken this fish thing to an unhealthy level...................:D

Yes I am afraid we might need an intervention.

You sir can not help the fish spawn......

You're not supposed to fish with worms in that section of the river- artificial flies and lures only.:D

OK Henny Youngman.

By the time I realized what was going on it was too late to edit it. I figured one of you a$$es had already seen it. Next thing I know, there'd be a random pic of me in the Den for the rest of the cronies to "Caption".

I admit it....I love trout OK? Satisfied? ;)

That pix gives pissing in a cup a whole new slant.

Ya I'm going to have to agree with you this whole el nino thing is really screwing up the weather. I really want snow. Over here on Cape Cod MA I was outside with my bro and friends playing wiffle ball at half time during the game and didn't need coats or anything.

Lookin' at that pic - I can hear Chris "Here fishy!" as he wiggles his wedding tackle.....

I agree w/ DJ, River needs to jeep more, fish less.

But HUGE props to Heather for thinking to get that pic!!!!!

Sunny and 70 on both sat and sunday in the pocono's. Got the balled tree out of the living room and planted, working in tshirts n jeans, awsome weather. Raining pretty good here in NYC though. Gonna have to go downstairs to one of those street vendors later and buy a $3 umbrella. Had the top down on the TJ for a few hours, good for the attitude :D :D :D

Unbelieveable, we have had rain and been in the 60's all day.

You're telling me.....made for a fun drive from High Point back to school in Charlotte yesterday.....we've usually had ONE mesaureable snow by now....haven't seen it in going on what, 3 years now?....atleast 2 years I know that....

On the plus side....no freezing cold = better gas milage....but I've yet to drive the XJ on snow and i'm very curious to see how it does.
