Road Trip!

So my total trip is from Penngrove, CA to Minot, ND. I am doing this trip in a 91' Comanche Eliminator on 35's and 4.56 gears. My speedo is a little off so all distances are Google based.

Today's leg was a short one: Penngrove, CA to Nevada City, CA. The trip was pretty good, except the trailer tried to kill me twice with crazy sway over ~50mph...I put the spare tire on the tongue of the trailer to counter the effect and it worked. I can now cruise at 60-65mph without gripping the steering wheel in fear. I cruised the whole distance in "3" just to keep it in the powerband and to keep the torque converter from working too hard. The distance from the SF Bay Area to Auburn, CA was cake(minus the previous mentioned fish tailing). The only time the truck worked was after I got off the highway, there are some substantial grades between I-80 and Nevada City.

Total distance from fill ups was 152.3 miles.
I filled it up with 11.8 gallons in Nevada City.
Total is roughly 12.9mpg...pretty good IMO.

If you are coming through Salt Lake City I am sure there are a couple of us who would have a beverage with ya.

I feel ya with the trailer sway. Need to get as much weight on the tongue as possible.

I might be getting off of I80 before I get into Utah. The Google route has us going North up I95 into Idaho. If it changes I will take you up on the offer thank you!

Saw a NAXJA guy today in Reno/Sparks while I was getting gas, I was a littl scatter brained and halfway being courteous. Sorry about that. My gov't travel card keeps getting declined, and the Jeep has a bad oil leak.

It seems like it is coming out of the distributor...wtf?

The puddle to the right was after about 5-10min of sitting.

It seems like it belches oil while under heavy throttle on inclines. After being easy on it, it doesn't seem to leak. I'll do some research but could the crank case pressure not be venting properly and forcing it out the distributor?

Yesterday was Nevada City to Elko, NV...Today's trip was Elko, NV to Idaho Falls, ID 323.3 miles, only 295.7 mile was accounted for from fill ups at 20.05 gallons that is a crazy 14.74 MPG...I dropped my speed down to ~60 mph and gained crazy MPGs. Granted it is slow and annoying I think it is pretty amazing. I stopped pushing the Jeep hard and just crawl up the hills when they come and coast a lot of the hills just maintaining speed. Tomorrow im going over the divide and I will see if today was a fluke or if I had a strong tailwind I didn't notice.

Our 03 suburban jumps from 18-19 at 70 to 20-21 at 60. I cruise at 60. My wife hates it but i get results at the pump for sure.

Glad your trip is going well bud

Unloaded, I felt like it was getting a ton better mpg's than my XJ. That's a good number with a trailer in tow:clap: Did you replace the TPS before heading out? and have you played with the TC lockup or rail shifter to see how it might play on MPG's? or has it been a simple "put it in drive and go" kind of trip? curious. I never really ran the numbers to see where is was at. I told the wife 12, but I felt like it was going to be closer to 15.

Im glad the trip is going decent, safe travels!

Bronze.

Bronze, the one time I used the shifter on the trip was in traffic using the transmission as a brake. And I haven't replaced anything on the Jeep besides the wheels and tires.
