my last thread i wanted to do a 4 link but found how hard it is and expensive. i looked up several other common front suspensions. the least costly suspention for me would be the paralell 3 link. i already have all of the parts and could use my 2 extra 7/8 heims as the trac bar. i think i know what to do, but there are just a couple things that i need to know. can the third upper link be sideways meaning going from the outside of the crossmember to the center of the axle. and also if i mount the 3rd link to the passenger side do i have to do any thing special. i drew this pic as a reference.

Outside the crossmember, like outside the frame rails? As long as you have clearance, you can mount the upper link as far to the side or dead center (rear application/rear engine maybe? :))...

What you'll want to do is measure the distance from the upper frame/crossmember side mounts to the axle so that your measuring tape intersects the axle at a 90* angle. That measurement is going to determine your pinion angle throughout the suspension cycle (not the length of the arms, as you might think).

You'll want those measurements to be pretty close or maybe have the upper be a little longer.

Also, I would think that the more of an angle (to the crossmember) your upper link is at, the more stress it's going to put on that hiem. The lowers balance each other out, but with one upper, I would think it may wear quicker.

Why not just run your upper arm off of the lower arm like they do for long arms. then you could mount the upper to the axle in the stock location

have u seen my other thread "simple 4 link" i already have a center mounting plate but dont have to use it, its just more convinient. i cant really take it off easily so im going to leave it there. ill double check the cleareances. one positive thing about the plate is i can maybe use it as a mounting place for a hydrlic ram in the future.
