Renix vs. HO (-96)

Was just thinking about this today

(so I Googled it and found this "old but not obsolete", LOL, thread)

and how little difference there really is between a 96 HO and an 87 Renix jeep as regards the basic fuel injection and engine controls, both and IAT, both have a MAP, both a bunch of relays, an ECU, little difference in the engine assy, and the AW4 is the same, .....and how a primer school on the 87 Renix operations I got from the factory multiport fuel injection manual I bought ages ago left me only needing to know a few minor differences between the years to jump from 87 troubleshooting to 96 basic troubleshooting.

While the TPS is different between the two years, what it does and the basic function and design and how it works with the ECU, and the ECU input and return voltage is the same.

Did the 87 Renix Multiport injection manual ever get updated for HO year rigs in the later years?

I have been thinking about his for a long time, did a search but found nothing.

Are there any realy disadvantages/ advantages of any type of engine/injection over the other?

Reliability? Fixability? :)

I know the renixes are older, but anyway any pros cons?

I have both 89 renix and 93 HO, did not have problems with either, but still I am curious.

Too my knowledge there is no HO equivalent of the Renix book.

only the factory service manual.

That makes it an XJ bible every XJ jeep owner should own and read!!!

Cherokee versus Wagonner turn signals?

Differences in front turn signal lights between 4 head light wagoneers (Briarwoods?) and the 2 head light cherokees is something I just discovered today. Only took me about 11 years to notice it.

The Cherokees have the turn light assy below the single head lamps, and the side amber lights are not turn signals, just running lights, which I still find odd and a bit of a safety issue.

The Wagoneers do not have the lower turn light assy at all under the head lights. The side amber running lights on the Wagonners are also the turn signals!!!! Different bulb as well it seems. I will be digging into this more. Was doing a pre-safety inspection to day for getting the window stickers and ran into this when the two turn signals on the front were not working and I had the two front ends side by side I suddenly noticed the difference. I think the twin filament bulbs on the cherokee are bad on the blinker filaments. Not sure how the mini bulbs on the Wagonner handle the dual filament, or mini bulb size issue compared to the much larger Cherokee turn signal bulbs.
