Renix 242 speedo question

Spent the last few hours helping a friend change the transmission in his 90 XJ. We put in a 93 AW4 and 231 from same. I did not realize the Renix uses a damn speedo cable. Can you just unbolt the cable adapter from the 242 and put it on the 231? write-ups? I looked for a minute but I'm tired as hell. Thanks guys

you absolutely can. i have a renix aw4/242 in a 96. pull the cable, swap the gear over (roll pin) and it drops right in.

pull the sender out of the old transfer case and move it to the new case--hole size is the same
