hey everybody..

i seem to have really bad luck with large sticks/small logs braking as i drive over them, and the half that sticks out the side of the car wacks the side of my car. the last 2 times ive gone wheeling this has happened, and i have a dent in each of my rear doors. theyre not big, but does anybody konw how i should go about removing them??
thanks

is it a bubble, kind of flowing dent. or is it a bent dent. ex a dent with edges like ( around the dent or \/ around the dent. if its the former you can get one of those plunger dent remover things. if its the latter, good luck. depending on where it is you can try to get at it from behind the molding. if its too high it will be pretty hard to get back there...

im a body tech i can tell you right now no dent will come out perfectly on an XJ door. one thing you can do is pop your innder door panel off, open up the access port on the door and roll up your window. take a rubber hammer or just barehand it, sometimes if youre careful you cxan pop out dents or minimize them. for a creased dent you got more work on your hands than id recommend weasting your time on. if you dont know know how to heat shrink and hammerform youd have to get a new door skin or whole new door so just pop em out by hand and be done with it. if its a trail rig anywyas just say its trail damadge. trail damadge is cool

I am going to be getting my XJ painted in a few weeks and I have a few dents in some of my doors....Would it be cheaper to go to a wrecking yard and find some new doors rather then pay the auto body place to fix all the dents??? Thanks

Hi:
Hard to say without pics of the damage.
I am an HD bodyman(light trucks/semis/excavators and up). If it is a trail rig, I would fix it as cheap and easy as possible because it is going to happen again. You have received excellent advice vis-a-vi donor parts and such. If you can explain the dent with a little more detail or better yet post some images, I'd be happy to offer up some better advice.

Tail only? If so get some of the really light sheetmetal they use on modifieds. You can bed it by hand on your bench, and seam it at the bottom of the window posts.

Piece of cake, and I think it comes on rolls, so you can fix the long tear your going to put in your right 1/4 panel too.
