I spoke with Tim Garrett (RMG President) this afternoon, and he wanted me to get a consensus from the MWC on how we would like to see our donation money used.

Use the poll or post up other options, and I will present them at the next RMG meeting on the 24th.

Thanks!!

Byron ... my personal opinion is that you guys on the Redbird Staff have a better idea where the money is needed the most. One thing that I noticed, this time, was how well the trail (the only one I was on) was marked. If there are other trails that need marked, that would be something good. But ... again, you guys decide the best and most urgent need for the money (MHO).

I'm with Les. Trail 21 was pretty well marked. Maybe you should have a fire extinguisher stand by the rock garden for Les. Ha just teasing! It is a pretty good place to wheel. Beats the Hell out of Haspin for sure

I'm with Brian.
Buy a good GPS, and get the trials marked. Lay the trail on a topo map and make copys to hand out at the gatehouse.

I agree with Les too, you guys know better than we do. However, a good map would be awesome.

Really have to agree with Brian on the maps and markings. I really didn't pay much attention to the markings because we had a guide. But I know those things get torn down all the time. They could stock up.

I can't remember seeing that many trash cans, if any? or a dumpster. Did I overlook those?

I'm guessing a few trails have been added since this map was generated:
REDBIRD MAP

Map.

I was also looking for a dumpster in the parking lot. We've had this discussion before and the same question came up though, who empties it? Does Dugger sanitation go that far?

The old map sucks, and I do know a new one is being worked on.

I'll ask about the Dumpster at the meeting, I think it has something to do with the state wanting to be pack it in/pack it out but I'll find out for sure.

Edit: Hale beat me to it.

I don't think that trash recepticles will happen from the sound of it. They expect everyone to carry their trash out which in my opinion isn't that big of a deal. If there were a dumpster, someone would have to empty it and it would be a re-occuring cost. You'd also have to deal with coons/wildlife and what not getting in it and making a mess when nobody is around. Then someone has to clean up that mess. It's just a much more simple to carry out your own trash. Granted, not everyone does that. I ended up carrying out a walmart bag(nearly full) of trash that I found on the trail.

Hmmm....GPS trail map?

We MAY be able to help with that during our cleanup.

During the summer the heavy tree coverage can cause havok with GPS reception, mine seemed to work OK the whole time.....in the fall it would be better.
