The 3" Procomp lift I bought has AALs for the rear. My current leafs are practically straight (remember it's a 1987). Just had exhaust work done and was talking with the guys. They said a local spring shop down the road could fix mine???
I stopped by and he said he could! Will respring??? them and put in the AALs for $180 out the door. I can only find one new pack for that price and of course I need two ;)
Anybody have any experience with "respringing" them?
Thanks,

You mean re-arching the springs?

Yes. I have experience. We rearched some springs for our Grand Wagoneed some years ago. They worked excellent and are still going strong. We arched them enough to get about a 1" lift over factory. The process took place about 10 or 12 years ago.

In short we are extremely impressed with it. We have done heavy towing to making the Jeep fly (6 Feet of air). There are no problems from the springs to date.

Hope this helps

I've always heard it referred to as "re-arching" of the springs. If you don't change anything else, it's usually a temporary fix. If you add an extra leaf at the same time to better handle the loads, then it can last longer. A neighbor of mine bought a utility bed truck with badly flattened springs. The shop he took it to re-arched them and added a leaf or two and it never had a problem again. As with any service like this, I'm sure there are good experiences and bad experiences to be found.
