3"x6"x5/16" Rectangle Tubing will be the donor material.

Hell-For-Stout...I am hoping.

What do you think?

Any changes, additions, anything...

Needs more mounting points if you don't want to rip it right out of the unibody. Most rear bumpers use strips down the inside of the framerails that mount to the hitch strips for that purpose.

Are you puting a hitch in there? If you are i am with Kunaji. Lots more mounting points. Or if you have a hitch already on it, i would say you are good to go.

Hitch, or no Hitch, you can put a lot of stress on those OEM mounting points if you don't put in some extra tie in at the bottom of the rear frame.

Your basic no frills bumper is 5"X2"X3/16" tube with chopped and boxed ends. Then if you want a hitch, cut out a hole for a reciever and go buy a valley hitch reciever tube for a pickup and weld it in. Mounting would be with (2) 2"X2"X3/16" tubes with 3/16" plates welded to the ends. Gusset as you see fit. Do your tie-in(s) with 3/16" angle. Also gusset to suit.

For tow points, get som D-Rings and either bolt them though the bumper, or weld them on.

This stuff can be as high tech or as low tech as you want. The one on my XJ is two 2X2X3/16" tubes stacked, welded, and boxed. Mounting is at the stock location, and lower tie points. I have an OEM reciever which takes the pull loads. The bumper grew a tire carrier a while back.

In reply to the mounting here is something I drew up today:

Remember just in the beginning phases just doing research and drawing up sketches.

Let me know what you think...

Thanks, Garrett

If you decide not to do it and want to throw that metal away.... just let me know and I'll haul it out to "scrap" :D

Are you sure? It might be too thick and weigh your truck down. I'm doing you a great favor by taking it away! :D
