has anyone asked to swap the 3.5" leaves and shackles to get the 4.5" leaves? why you ask? because i plan on putting a budget boost on the 4.5" lift later on just for the extra 1" and don't want to have two sets of leaf springs.

Most dealers/distributors should have no problems doing that for you. ACtually since hte leaf packs are same price, you should be able to get the 4.5 leaves and the shackle :D

if the prices are the same, why don't people just get the 4.5" packs instead?

is it a bad idea to use the longer shackles with a coil spacer with the re6130?

Well IIRC they used to offer just hte packs in the kits but found out that you get better droop if you combine the size smaller pack with a shackle.

Yes I have done the exact thing and had it for about 2 years now. Finally I am upgrading to the 5.5" kit but I am going to use the same 4.5" (RE1642) leaf pack.

It won't be a perfect set up but is ideal if you plan to go bigger in the future.

Problems:
- 1462 leaf pack alone gave me 6.5" lift initially and settled down to 5.5" in a month, down to 5" after about a year. I had to add a 3/4" spacer to the front coils to level out the ride.

- A bigger leaf pack needs a longer shackle to flex properly. With just the stock shackle, it will not compress like it should. It results in an unbalance with the front - the front does most of the flex and the rear follows the slopes of the terrain.

I haven't installed the 5.5" kit yet so all the pics on my site are with the 4.5" leaf pack and stock shackle www.ericsxj.com
