re-gear questions

+1 for FrankZ. He just did mine and everything is great.

I did 4.56s on 33s as well (with auto). I'm loving it.

I'm running 456 on 35's auto and lovin em. Stang did mine and was able to do it with axles in the jeep still so drove there and drove home. Was nice.

Thanks for the help guys,

So after talking to dutchvdub he steered me in the right direction.
But i have a couple questions what locker/ limited slip would you guy or do you guys run for more dd than trail rig?

I also went to just differentials to get prices...

NationalDrivetrain is a vendor here. PM FatCity (Eric). I'm certain that you'll be pleased with his prices.

As far as lockers are concerend, A PowerTrac no-Slip is a great choice for a rear axle. I'm not big of any non-selectables for front axles, especially in our climate.

Spend the coin and get either an Eaton E-Locker or an ARB for the front.

Queue Ira and his Oxlocker Dance of Love in 5...4...3...

I've installed OX-Lockers, ARB's, and an Auburn Ected (electronic selectable locker thats a limited slip when unlocked) and I was not at all impressed with the OX-locker. Thanks, but no thanks. I'll stick with ARB for selectable lockers.

Spartans are cheaper and supposedly stronger. IMHO the extra money on the Powertrax is worth it. I really liked the one I had in my XJ.

Up front save your pennies and get an ARB.

opinions on lockers and tires is really a amtter of what your desires are performance and capability wise from your rig. thats really what you need to answer first then go from there

Gotta agree here. If you want selectable go ARB. I love mine most of the time lol. Im thinking of going to a detroit in the rear but not too sure about that yet.

Owned an Ox....hated it....sold it. (No Ira yet?!?!?)

Seen Auburns slip (a lot) when they were supposed to be locked........not a real mechanical locker anyway. Great for mall crawlers that don't know better.
(PM any negative comments about my opinion...thanks.)

LOL.......... you can eat my OX balls Frank :D Running OX's front and rear and love them!! For the record, I paid to have both my axles regeared and it only cost me $210 to set them up :D When I installed my OX lockers I disassembled them, checked them and reassembled with proper loctite and torque............. NO PROBLEMS! Oh, it helps if you route the cable AWAY from heat sources and adjust it correctly......:D

TruTrac belongs in the front!!

XXXX that, I've ran a trutrac up front. I will never run a front limited slip again.

Yeah, maybe for you stud muffin...... For the weekend warrior though an auto in the rear and limited up front is perfect.... :patriot:

Except the limited in the front (and especially on a rig you can't disconnect the hubs) will steer like crap because the two driveshafts are always tied together. With a locker up front your turning radius won't be affected as badly because the locker will unlock and allow the two driveshafts to spin at different speeds. Been there, done that, and I'll take a locker up front and limited slip in the back over the oppositte anyday. Especially on a daily driver.

Kind of off-topic but is there anyone around the metro area that runs 4.56's on 33's? I'm looking to see how it drives on the highway as well as in town before I actually drop them in mine.

On a manual 4.56's are overkill even for 35's. I ran 4.56's with my 36's and it was overkill, but I liked it. On an auto 4.56's are just barely overkill and worth it as it gives you room to move up to 35's.
