RCV shafts and other upgrades (44)

I'm running a 77 HP 44 out of a 77 F150. I am about to purchase after market shafts as spares (which will obviously be my full time shafts soon enough).

I have no problem spending the money on RCV shafts, but do they offer the 19 spline stub shaft option? I have brand new Warn premiums that will obviously not work with the 30 spline stub shaft I have seen them offer.

Anyway, any other shafts people have luck with? I have a buddy that wheels the crap out of his set up with Yukon super joints and never broke one yet, those are pricey too.

Thanks fellas.

I'm pretty sure RCV can custom make anything you want. Just ask how much extra it'd be to get the 44 shafts in 19 spline. Then see if its worth it staying with your current hubs or getting ones for the 30 spline.

LOL. I just saw a 30 spline stub shaft break this weekend. It was the old warn hub conversion shaft for a dana 30. This was on the NAXJA 4643 ultra4 car. Apparently it was a 12 years old shaft.

I've also heard of RCV's failing on JK 44's. This is probably due to the weight of the JK, but under the right circumstances anything can break.

Thanks for the reply! So basically instead of buying the new hubs for about $200, I simply buy those for my existing Warn premiums. Sounds great. I assume it isn't terrible to install those? I'm mechanically inclined, but have obviously not done this job yet. When I put in the lock outs, they come intact already.

I have never seen anyone breaking the stub shaft, if it fails somewhere, it is at the ears because a u joint went, not the splines.

I've broken more 19 spline stubs inside the spindle or at the splines than at the u joint for what its worth. A couple stockers and a few alloys.

Yea, I think I've decided to go 30 spline. What did you end up doing after breaking multiple short shafts?

kept throwing more shafts in it.

Last set I had in there were nitro's they lasted almost 3 years then I sold them. Mosers, stock, and yukons all broke on me within the first wheeling run, or after several months.

With CTM's you rarely to never break a u-joint, typically break the shaft at the ears or in the spindle.
