Nice. I am still looking for an XJ to make my camper. I have a line on one for $250 but it has no front axle so I have no way to tow it over to my place right now.
 
well my original plan was to mask of the "the wires" and the outs part of them rim and leave those unpainted. but it took my a day to get as far as i did in that first pictures to i said screw it. my attention span isnt that long

Yeah. 1967 Jeepster-Commando (C101)
Buick 225 V6 (odd-fire), T86aa, Dana 20, Dana 27&Dana 44 (F/R). 3.73s, rolling 225/75/R15 BFG ATs.
 
If I remember correctly, That Jeep was made for the Air Force as a means to pull planes around.

But I am not too sure about that.
 
Nope, civvy sales only, made '67-71, then replaced by the C104 Commando, '72-74. I suspect you are thinking of the CJ-10A aircraft tug.
 
Like I said... I was not sure.
