Ugh. I have created a mess.
1994 XJ 4.0 automatic 4 door
I was planning to use the vehicle to daily drive to a job sight and needed a little more power (electrical) for the laptop, charging, etc I wanted to run. I bought an upgraded alternator, plopped a big10 wiring kit in and made ready.
A couple weeks ago I was driving it daily to the job sight and it started with a stall after a long idle. That turned into intermittent stalling. Which then was stall, long crank.
I dove into the diag tree and the fuel pump module was leaking down 20-30 PSIg in 10 minutes, which indicated a bad fuel pump module. I ordered a module, and when I installed it, found I had no fuel level reading (tank is half full of clean, clear fuel). I had a no start condition after that.
I started a new diagnositc and started probing the CKPs. All SYMPTOMS pointed to the CKPs, so I swapped it with an Advance Auto Parts piece. At that time I was able to drive the vehicle about 100 yards before it died and would not restart for about 15 minutes. I was able to get it home with a few stalls.
Because I am a chicken, I swapped the fuel pump module BACK to the original unit in the tank. I STILL had no fuel level showing, and it forced a no start condition with no voltage being sent to the fuel pump.
Swapped in ANOTHER CKPs from Vato Zone this time and the replacement fuel pump module back into the tank. I now have no fuel level showing, a vehicle that I can start and idle, but will stall as I try to drive it. I have 2 more CKPs on the way. Apparently Mopar no longer supplies them.
I'm stumped to go forward, no idea what is a next best step.
