My son Jared and I went for a drive. Left from Lincoln through Auburn, Hwy 49, Hwy 193 through Georgetown, Wentworth Springs Rd to Loon Lake.
Has anyone else seen the trail around the old Gate Keeper lately? It's a gravel road! I was told that is should only be temporary, needed to move maintenance equipment through. I think a prius could navigate it right now.
We followed a clean XJ on 35's and a Rubicon slightly modded. Nice group. The Rubicon owner was timid as I think he was afraid to scratch his $35K Jeep. We took a few breaks along the way to stay off his bumper.
This was Jared's first trip on the Con and my first time on the Wentworth Springs Leg. We both had a blast. Although, we were alone on the Wentworth side and it was tougher than I thought. Would have been nice to have a second vehicle for safety. I think we take for granted when we have a Jeep leading. Easier to follow someone elses lines (or not follow). The ol' XJ did amazingly well and the driver ok too.
Was able to test out the new 7100's and bumpstops. All worked fantastic. Love the shocks both on and off road (like buttah!). Something I haven't had in a while, gear oil spewing out the vent (D44). May be Airlocker related but more likely heat/pressure related. I'll take a look today. No other damage to report other than paint and metal off the protection.
My son Jared took most of the pictures with his new Canon 550D. I did however snap a couple.
For those of you that are concerned, Jared is doing very good. Energy levels moving in the right direction. Coordination and muscle control getting better every day. Appetite returning slowly but surely. The first round of treatment for his cancer is complete and we will be meeting with the Oncologist on Wednesday to review the latest MRI and discuss the Chemo mainenence program to follow.
Father and son had a great time!
