So i drive my Jeep on friday no problems just installed the SYE on thursday so it sits Saturday and Sunday i took a cruise up to skyline in the SI this morning and when i get back i have a puddle under my Jeep and its not even 7 months old it was new when i bough the stupid thing its leaking at the upper tranny line fitting. So does anyone know where i can get a radiator that doesnt have the plactic tanks.

Any help would be great oh its a 1997 Thanks Jason  :wow:

I went to Napa auto parts up here.

They listed 3 different radiators -

an aluminum, with plastic tanks - for $150
an all brass with brass tanks - for like $175 - but they didnt stock it, and couldnt get it
an all brass with brass tanks (HD version?) - for like $300...

Hopeing to avoid thermal expansion problems with plastic and aluminum, and knowing the abuse I put my junk through, I bucked up for the 'HD' one...

300 fawking dollars later... Its installed.

What is the heavy duty a 3 row. how do i know if its closed or open if its open then it would have and over flow bottle correct

yours is open - closed system left with the renix injection.

I dont know if its really heavy duty or not, but that's what the guy at Napa said... :wierd:

CSF used to be a good brand for the nice XJ radiator - I dont know if people here still like them. Thats what I took out to put this in, they looked the same, except the new one didnt have a big hole in the bottom of it...

I never had any problems with my CSF that I didnt cause (fan hitting it, or putting a log through it)... :rattle:

Yeah i just called Napa after i read your post all brass 213.00 of course he didnt know how many rows. This sucks i didnt plan on putting in a radiator i was gonna buy my Aussie locker next week.

THanks fer your help XJRANGER

Yeah the numb nuts i bought the Jeep from didnt tighten the lines at all when he put in the radiator and i couldnt figure out what was leaking until i replaced the front seal and found that the tranny lines where loose. But if you replace the radiator why would you install a radiator with plactic tanks thats just plain DUMB!!!!!!!!! Now i getta do it all over again. Well at least i know how tight the belt needs to be. DOH!!!!!

:gonnablow

Yeah he probably figured he was gonna sell it anyway. And i was thinking this is the cheapest Jeep with the lowest miles i can find i really should buy it right now. Yeah you always pay in end huh. Cant stop me now im addicted cough cough cough. Sorry old episode of Seinfeld

Try Kohlweiss Jason they usually have good ol Made in the USA stuff there and the prices are good. My stock one exploded. It was so backed up with crap the plastic side just split off from the pressure. My new HD CSF all brass 3 row and metal tank are making my overheating a thing of the past now. (After fixing the pinhole I put in it when I installed it).

Thanks Jes And Ed sorry i didnt answer the phone ED had a long day yesterday i pulled the trailer hitch and rear bumper off the War Wagon plus cleaning up all the mess in the driveway. I didnt go to pick and pull i picked up most of the parts at a junkyard on the penninslua. But still need rotors and e-brake shoes. Apperently not all Grand Cherokees come with disc brakes in the rear I was told mine came off a 94 limited. I need to find a place to make me some new E-brake cables. Anyway i didnt answer the phone cuz i was sleeping

if give you the radiator from this jeep i bought but its a renix....you need a different radiator...

Thanks Jon but while i was out cleaning the driveway and moving my broke ass jeep i decided to pony up the cash and buy a new 3 row next week. But over the weekend i did get most of the stuff to switch the rear brakes to discs. So at least i didnt go totaly backwards. :firedevil cant wait for the extra stopping power. Thanks everone for all they advice.
