R/C Cherokee?

I want to get my kids a couple of R/C XJ's for Christmas. I have found a bunch of different Wranglers, but does anyone make a Cherokee? They love my Jeep, and I think they would have a blast playing with an R/C version of it.

I don't know that I have ever seen a XJ at any level of R/C Cars. If you don't mind spending a little more money, go beyond Nikko or Tyco. If you don't have resources local to you (a GOOD R/C Hobby shop or Track), I can do some digging to find out if anyone makes a body of the XJ. I think I have seen a Commanche (sp?). But none of our XJ's.

I don't know if anybody still makes them in 1/10 scale, Dahm's and Andy's used to make Cherokee's and Comanche's for stadium trucks, but I haven't had any luck in gatting them lately. I have found BRP's J Racing Truck body that is a combination on XJ, MJ, and ZJ with Honch bedside flares for 1/18 trucks. I've already put one on my Losi Mini-T painted like my '98 Limited, I'm currently working on a Venom Mini Giant 1/20 solid axle/ 3 link suspended mini monster truck with one that will recieve one to be painted to match Dad's '90 Larado. I'm even considering a HPI Micro RS4 touring sedan (also 1/18), set to the 140mm wheelbase, to paint up like my sisters '92 Briarwood. This body should also fit the 1/18 Tamiya TLT mini monsters, also with solid axles.

Thanks for all of the replies.

My girls are 3 and 6, so buying them an expensive R/C truck isn't an option right now. I expect that whatever I get them will be destroyed within a month. I just want to get them gifts that are cool, that's what dads are for!

I guess I will look at the Liberties and Wranglers then. I will post when I decide on one. That's if my wife doesn't spend the budget on stupid American Girl dolls.

ok quick google search found this

1:it's really a liberty -idiots

in europe we call it Cherokee too. but i don't like them to do so ... so you always have to ask if they mean the new one .... silly idea ....

but about the problem of finding any XJ car ... i'm searching for a loooong time and the only one i found was a Matchbox car .... if anyone of you guys know a company producing a Cherokee around the format 1:10 or a self-made plastic-kit let me know. i also found no paper car to build.

why don't they do that .... this car was sold this often????

By chance would you have any part # or a web page that has a XJ body for my HPI nitro truck

I remeber seeing the XJ and MJ 1/10 bodies in the mid 90's, and have been looking for them since '98 or '99 with out much luck, they seem to be out of production right now although I can still get the P/N's from the computers at work. Dahm's still offers their Exploder and 454SS bodies that they did back then but no Jeeps, and Andy's now only makes bodies for Team Trinity under the Reference lineup. The BRP isn't liscensed, which I think is why it's called the "J Racing Truck" and has been made of a mixture of Jeep trucks and SUVs. The only kicker is that it 1/18 not 1/10, other wise I'd have one for my E-Pede too. I'm getting ready to paint up a Pro-Line E-Rustler Crowd Pleazer for my 'Pede to replace the Pro-Line T3 Ram that seems to be pretty weak around the rollbar down tubes and humps for the rear shocks.

Which truck do you have; MT, Rush, or Savage?

Nitro MT

any chance they make any real 4wd rc's that dont cost an arm and a leg

Check out the Venom Mini Giant, the LHS I work at sells them for $120, and you may be able to pick up a used one like I did for less. It's got solid axles, perminatly engaged part time style 4wd (with no chains to stretch!), and has a growing fan base of home tinkerers. I'm working on stretching mine, I'm just having some issues with the upper link in the back at the moment.

I got a sweet R/C wrangler at walmart for $20. It wasnt the greatest when i first got it, but it was still a lot of fun. the shocks didnt really work, but its a 9.2 volt rechargable, so the thing's got some juice. I just modified the thing today so it has articulating rear suspension. it actually has about 6" of flex. I'm lovin it. and im working on getting some pics up...

Not in Canada, where that link is from. ;)
Actually, they are foolishly marketed as the Liberty in Canada too. (Foolishly because the word 'Liberty' does not elicit the chest-welling nationalism that it is supposed to in the US - to Canadians its just another symbol of the Americanization of our country). I think they are Liberty throughout North America, my Aunt who lives in Mexico said they are sold as Liberty's down there too.

There are several XJ out there if you know where to look. Granted some are getting very difficult to come by. I found one of the 1/10 scale XJ bodies a couple of years ago. It came with some Dahm decals but I don't know if it was a Dahm itself since I bought it second hand. I have more variants of the XJ in matchbox, Maitso, and others than I can remember off hand. I also have two small plastic models of the XJ. One is stock and the other is a Dakar Rally XJ.
If you decide to seriously collect the XJ stuff be prepared to spend some Jack and surf off shore auctions etc.

For whatever reason the XJ stuff wasn't marketed as widely in the US. China is a good location as are some of the European countries.

Bones :skull1:
