Quick coil question.

i hear if you have cardboard stuck to your coils the spring rate is increased

I'll bring this back up as I'm in a similar boat as Alex.
Very heavy front end, RE 4.5" coils, ~4" up travel, and 12" travel Fox 2.0s.

Thing is I don't do a whole heck of a lot of the faster stuff, but it is nice to cruise to the harder stuff on the trail with a little bit of speed. Anyway were I'm at now is it is perfect on the rocks or anything below ~7mph. Above that it is very harsh and I'm on the bumps a lot.

I ordered a few valve stacks and that should let me play around with pretty much any combination. I've chatted with a couple folks and right now the valving is 30/90 and when the parts arrive tomorrow I'd like to swap them out for 55/85. The few I've spoken with seem to agree/point me there. Does it look like I might be in the ballpark or even in the same town as it? I don't want to kill the rock/slow speed stuff with to fast a rebound or to firm a compression, but hitting the bumps on anything larger than an M&M at speed stinks.

I do understand the only way I'm going to get it right is to test it a few different times, but I'd like to limit the amount I have to disassemble them. :)

Thanks guys.

iam running 45 75 and havent ran in the dirt yet but crossing some major rr crossings it seams to wor well but dampning needs to be stiffer .i think iam going to go too 80 or 85. 90 just makes me think iam going too knock my teath out on the 32 mile ride too work.

Do you actually know the rate? I'm in the same boat, but just got a set of Bilstein 7100s and they are valved much less stiff than I wanted. Looking to get a bit stiffer spring possibly. Did some fast running down on the beach sand and bottomed out pretty hard a few times, but without progressive bumps. It hurt.

You are also alot lighter then me up front but I will look into it.

Jesus, that's overkill. Yeah I will look into them, lets just trade XJs at the hammers this year for a bit.

just postin for the sake of tech really

bumpstop and valve accordingly..dont want to end up too heavily sprung

my bumper is pretty retardedly heavy anyway...mostly all 5/16" :) with some 3/4"

I'm sure it's in your build thread somewhere, but what is the valving on your front shocks?
