1. What do you hope to achieve during your term on the BOD?
Continue to grow the chapter by encouraging new members.
2.Do you plan on simply maintaining status quo or will you be trying to take a more pro-active stance on chapter issues?
We are always happy to hear feedback from our membership on how they think the chapter is run. I continue to enjoy discussions from my bosses (you all) on what you think about the chapter and its goals.
3. If elected, what will your priorities be?
Grow membership
Promote responsible wheeling
Maintain our trail adoption at Redbird
Winterfest
Listen to the memberships concerns and react to them.
4. What do you see as current issues you would like to work on resolving and what do you see as possible future issues?
I would like to see a larger turnout for our trail work at Redbird, I would also like to see us look to assisting other publicly funded off-road areas. In the future I think we are going to see a need to split the chapter to provide better service to our membership. Additionally, we continue to face the constant "bad press" the off road community has, we need to make sure that we put or best foot forward and present a unified, responsible image to the public at large.
5. Land use is a growing concern. In the past, the members were asked about worthy non-profits to donate money to. Should such a windfall be available again, which causes would you support the most?
In the past we have supported Redbird, and continue to do so through out trail adoption, we have also supported WOHVA. I would like to see additional funds go to any regional cause the the membership supports. When these funds become available we should continue to ask the members what groups are important to them, and support those groups.

1. What do you hope to achieve during your term on the BOD?

maintain the direction of where the MWC is already heading with the addition of 'looking' at adding a summer event.

2.Do you plan on simply maintaining status quo or will you be trying to take a more pro-active stance on chapter issues?

chaper issues? current issues or the future issures? the MWC really doesn't have major issues, and the issues in the past were easily solved

3. If elected, what will your priorities be?

membership
looking into making winterfest all that it can be
looking into new, summer event

4. What do you see as current issues you would like to work on resolving and what do you see as possible future issues?

I don't see many real issues, NAXJA has always had real positive results with dealing with issues that arise. Compared to issues in the past, the MWC has no issues now.

5. Land use is a growing concern. In the past, the members were asked about worthy non-profits to donate money to. Should such a windfall be available again, which causes would you support the most?

I would put it out to the members to help decide where the monies would go. The people should decide for the people whenever possable

Could each of the candidates please answer the following questions?

1. What do you hope to achieve during your term on the BOD?

*To maintain existing members and promote chapter growth and participation.

2.Do you plan on simply maintaining status quo or will you be trying to take a more pro-active stance on chapter issues?

*I am not aware of "major" issues within the MWC at this time, but if such a need arrises I would collaborate with my fellow MWC BOD officers and address the concern by taking a multiangle approcah to see that the concern is looked at from both sides and then address it as such. If additional input were needed on a subject, it could be brought to the chapter members in a systematic approach to get their input.

3. If elected, what will your priorities be?

*To maintain our existing members and promote chapter growth.
*To increase participation at not only wheeling events, but at social gathersings (meet and greets), more community involvement (Toys 4 Tots, Wheeling for the Wounded, etc.).
*To promote wheeling trips (official or non-official) that are in various locations throughout the chapter to help include more of the members in our more remote locations.

4. What do you see as current issues you would like to work on resolving and what do you see as possible future issues?

*At the present time I am not aware of any major issues within the MWC. The chapter could benefit from more member involvement, but given the current economic conditions, it is difficult for some members to be able to participate or assist on a project if it is more then a few hours away. I understand this and respect it as well. I would like to see more centeralized wheeling events (official or non-official) that would cater to the entire chapter so that our members from all areas are possibly able to participate in a MWC function, or better yet, a MWC campfire. As far as the future issues, I am with Rev on the fact that we may come to a point where the chapter faces the delima of splitting to better serve its members. If that does arrise, I would think it would be a topic that goes out for discussion to the members, because afterall they are the ones it affects.

5. Land use is a growing concern. In the past, the members were asked about worthy non-profits to donate money to. Should such a windfall be available again, which causes would you support the most?

*I would be in favor of supporting the fund dispersal in any direction that would beneficial to the offroad community as long as it is within the boundaries of the MWC. Mother NAXJA is there to support/assist on a National level, so when "local funds" become available to the chapter I am in favor of spending them as such, "locally" within the chapter. As far as which causes I would support the most, I would would have to see what options were available at the time the funds were available. It would be in conjunction with what the members of the chapter had decided, because they are the voice of the offroad community as well as our chapter.

Thank you for asking the questions, they are good ones!!

Cheeseman-OUT!

dang Dan, the guy already needs a helmet and you are wanting your body guard to beat him in the face.... :D

and I am impressed that it is only nomination time and you already have a body guard....this might get interesting :D:D

1. What do you hope to achieve during your term on the BOD?

Increase oppertunities for members to be active in chapter events and activities, and aid with the planning of those activities. Increase member involvement with chapter projects. We have a large group of people that is able to accomplish some great things, I would like to see that utilized more than it currently is.

2.Do you plan on simply maintaining status quo or will you be trying to take a more pro-active stance on chapter issues?

I would like to be more active and involved with chapter issues. I have been quite involved with a few things that have been going on, but would like the chance to do the same with some of the other issues.

3. If elected, what will your priorities be?

1. Get winterfest pre-registration website up and running
2. Arrange catering for winterfest (I have already reserved the hall)
3. Finialize T-shirt/sweatshirt design
4. offer additional winterfest/MWC apparel and accessories
5. Help to increase awareness of naxja MWC
6. Assist in developing additional events and projects for members to take part in
7. Assist the BOD wherever I can
8. evertything else (there is a lot more I would like to do)

4. What do you see as current issues you would like to work on resolving and what do you see as possible future issues?

I would like to see more effort put into the planning and orginization of midwest chapter events. I have already been spending quite a bit of time on Winterfest this year. I have been involved in the planning of several midwest chapter events, and would like to use some of the experience I have gained to improve those events. I enjoy helping to put these events together, and would like the chance to do more.

5. Land use is a growing concern. In the past, the members were asked about worthy non-profits to donate money to. Should such a windfall be available again, which causes would you support the most?

Redbird, they have been great to us, and we have had several events there.

The midwest isn't faced with the land use issues that some of the other chapters are. Unfortunatly, there aren't many public places for us to wheel. I feel that other than Redbird, our best oppertunity to improve others views of our club would be to do some sort of clean up project, and that would mean parking the jeeps and doing some manual labor. Adopt a highway, assisting the DNR with projects, donations to state parks are very visible ways to do some good for the environment.

I would also like to see some sort of benefit charity put together by the NAXJA MWC. Toys for Tots, Susan G Komen, salvation army, SOAR... there are a ton of great orginizations out there that would greatly benefit from a chapter activity that would also provide us with another excuse to get together.

FIrst, I think Its a good idea to park the Jeeps and do other projects but I physically can't. This leads to my next point. I was born with Muscular Dystrophy and I was Helped a lot by The Shriners Hospital for Children. I'd like to see some sort of trail ride or raffle or something to benefit them.

Would be very cool. I've seen trail rides for disabled children before where they wheeled the easy trails with the kids and raised a bunch of money for the cause. It was in one of the newstand rags a few years ago.

I'd be down for that. I don't care how easy the trail is if it is for a good cause. Shriners hospitals have been having a hard time lately since they are primarily funded by donation.

I'm not very political, but here's where I stand.

Could each of the candidates please answer the following questions?

1. What do you hope to achieve during your term on the BOD?

Expand the chapter by adding new members and increase the membership's awareness of proper land use issues.

2.Do you plan on simply maintaining status quo or will you be trying to take a more pro-active stance on chapter issues?

I'm not aware of any major issues within the MWC as of now, but I will always have an open door so to speak for the membership to bring anything to my attention.

3. If elected, what will your priorities be?

1) Expand membership.
2) Continue to focus on land use issues and trail adoption.
3) Winterfest

4. What do you see as current issues you would like to work on resolving and what do you see as possible future issues?

No current issues I know of. The only future things I could see would be Winterfest details, and those will be relatively easy to take care of.

5. Land use is a growing concern. In the past, the members were asked about worthy non-profits to donate money to. Should such a windfall be available again, which causes would you support the most?

Obviously I'm a bit biased towards Redbird, but I would like to see the chapter support any public land. In Indiana, Interlake is up and coming and could use support. WOHVA is also another organization we have supported in the past.

I'd like to thank you all for stepping up for what is usually a thankless job in serving on the BOD and wish you all good luck in your respective elections.
