Project "Rubicon This!"

You done yet? :D

Jesus, man...can't a guy have unexpected things come up? I got to get into it again today. The long arms belly pan is 85% done. The front axle is coming apart/out to make way for the other D30 that is already 4.10 geared. Gotta swap a few things from the one to the other like my Aussie and such.

Get the front end buttoned up and move along to getting the Detroit put in the 8.8 and get it all situated. Shit takes time. But, it'll be done. Has to.

And on another note...where the hell did my camera go? I don't remember leaving it in Kentucky...

It was in Missouri, ya schmucks! :laugh3:

As per my promise, even if it's late...here's my Advance Adapters slip yoke eliminator.

Kim and I managed to get a larger amount of work done today. We got the original D30 pulled out to make way for the 4.10 geared guy. I swapped the Aussie over from the original carrier to the replacement. Got the axle assembled again. Well, the gears are all in, the cover and diff guard are all on. We mounted the long arms up to the axle and got it situated under the front of the Jeep ready to go in when we get back at it.

Looking good!

Progress is coming along. Kimmer got the front end finished up much to my surprise this morning. Got some good looking arms and some new altitude going on under there.

We moved to the rear to get working on the HDOE shackle boxes which will pave the way for the UBE'd 8.8.

8.25 = GONE!

Just 1". Total should amount to ~5.5" of lift. That's what size lift coils I have up front.

I've been toying with the idea of ditching the heavy front bumper and going with a Detours backbone and synthetic line on the winch. It'll sit a little higher up front and save some weight.

Thoughts?

Yes, it is. But I would be recouping some cost by selling the bumper and the weight benefit would be nice. I've never weighed my XJ, but I doubt its anywhere near 50/50. It's pretty hard to do in the first place, then add (close to the same amount) weight to the front and rear, it's not getting any better. I would imagine taking some weight off the front can only help.

I hate to quote myself, even more so with 2 quotes in my own thread, but I wanted to see the difference between the 3" and 5.5". The angles are a bit different, it's different sides and some better reference points would be nice, but I'm thinking there's about a 2" difference. Solid.

I've finally got the belly pan finished with tapping the front two weld nuts in the frame and running the bolts in. Kim got the t-case skid on which is pure beef.

And we finished up the H.D.O.E. shackle relocation boxes.

So work began on the 8.8 install. Kim started grinding off the original mounts while I was finishing up the rear bumper and got the brackets ready for mock up.

After we got all the prep work to the axle done we slid it under the Jeep to get it tacked into place before pulling it out so we can burn the U-bolt eliminator perches in place.

Haven't installed them yet. They got tacked onto the axle, but Kim we didn't have a welder good enough to penetrate how we wanted to. So it'll be a couple days before we actually get the axle back under it and ready to go.

It didn't seem to be that big of a pain though. For a little bit we were scratching our heads with one of the perches looking crooked on the axle, but we somehow managed to get it looking right. Dunno what we did different. Oh well.

I'm getting so stoked!
