Project: Hellride. A 1978 J-10

I have a mint 3 piece front bumper at the store...someone offered it up to me but I decided to use the one piece that Ken got me from a junkyard as it's year correct for mine.

I also have 3 tailgates better than yours if you're ever interested...I might be willing to let one go. Maybe. Someday I hope to be on that show hoarders for boring J-truck parts.

Glad to see progress!

i think i'll end up building a matching front bumper out of some 2x6 eventually. you can hang onto the million dollar 3 piece.

eventually i'd like a tailgate once i decide to paint it. this one is rotted in a place that would be too difficult for me to repair. still have a decent amount of bodywork to do before i get to that point though.

custom bumpers.. what kinda plans do you have for this?

fix the floor, fix the bed, put a fuel cell in it, and drive it.

long term plans?
do a little body work, paint it.

longer term plans?

one tons
sweet tires
bobbed bed

and now because i have a motor that is capable of making power cheaply and easily. im tempted to make it go phastuh

deavers?!?!?!?!

heads.

already is loaded with edelbrock crap. but it was built for torque.

i gotta ask around and see how i can make top end while keeping my torque.

i'm not thinkin too much about suspension right now... and im pretty sure i'd chop the bed and shorten the wheelbase before i get serious about it.

BUT....

im thinkin 4" or so taller
linked front
fancy shocks
shackle reversal with some form of leaf spring

3 link front will be pretty easy, def go straight to coilovers on that pig. for the rear i'd go spring under with some custom leaf packs. you should have no problem pulling 14", maybe even 16" of travel from a SUA pack with how long they are.

the right cam/intake/carb/heads will give you what you need, AMC's are pretty torqe as is so anyhing you decide on will make it go good . if you want more speed you need a bigger cam/larger intake, something like edelbrocks RPM kit

Where have I been for the past 4 months? Looks like a fun project.

its a chevy 350

it already has a edelbrock 4 barrel, edelbrock intake, unknown tube headers. torquey cam.

right. NO BALLS.

can't wait to see pics :D

i love this truck. she is already a red-light conversation piece.

went on a 60 mile trip today.

fuel milage seems bearable

water temp tops out at 230 when cruising at higher rpms. otherwise stays right around 210-215

oil pressure is minty fresh

dryrotted 33's are no good. blew one out about a mile from my house. drove home on it and long story short she is now tuckin' 35" km2s on allied beadlocks.
